I only do console and handheld RPGs, and even then most of what I play are traditional JRPGs. I don't think I can help too much with online or real-life roleplaying.
I honestly enjoy Warcraft III. It's a very nice series, and it ties into World of Warcraft in many ways, so you'll actually be able to have a conversation with World of Warcraft players lol If you play Warcraft III, play online, as users make their own maps. Mauls are the best Enjoy! (*hug*)
There were time I played video games... Which is LONG TIME AGO!!! I have no idea if there are good RPG around these days... Which only makes me feel old...:bang:
I've played D&D since I was about six. I was brought up in a D&D-loving household, so I'm now sure how you'd find someone in your area - I've always played with family, and family friends.
I play every Friday night with a group of friends here in metro Detroit. Right now we're playing D&D 4th Edition, but we're also big fans of White Wolf stuff and even more so of the Savage Worlds system. Deadlands, Sundered Skies, Necessary Evil, and all the other stuff one can run with Savage Worlds makes it just an awesome system. I know they also play WoW, but I refuse to pay money to spend my nights interacting with people online when I can go interact with REAL people for free. Good luck finding people up there in the wastes known as the U.P, though...
A free game thats a lot more RP based then World of Warcraft (wow), more challenging and much more advanced graphics and game mechanics would be Vanguard: Saga of Heros. Hefty download but it's all free atm I think - check it out.
