What are your morals? What are your ideals?(and no these two are not the same thing)

What do you expect of yourself?
What do you expect of others?

(also if you disagree with someone please be respectful about it)

For myself: rationality, respect, humility, perseverance, self control, honesty, and a will to achieve fulfillment.

    Others:" the golden rule"

    Not lying to myself.

    And that's all.

I am against the idea of morals. They are binding and restrictive. I will not restrict myself.

I will do what I please; there is no "bad" or "good", it is only human perspective, and it varies among cultures.

Thus your moral would be to please yourself first.

No it's more of an ideal of personal freedom than a moral...

Depends on how you see it. If you think of pleasing yourself without thinking about what's commonly agreed on, your moral would be not to follow those "rules" blindly and to do what you want to do. It can be seen as a moral.

    From the Secular Humanist wiki:

So yeah, I get most of my morals from utilitarianism, ethical naturalism, and revolutionary ethics. I also get some of my morals from the idea of a social contract.

I am shocked and amazed that anybody even knows what morals are anymore.......seeing as I haven't seen anybody with morals since the early 1970's!

It depends. Morals don't have to be set in stone to guide your every move and thought before you do something. For me, morals are just the backdrop of what and why I do things.
I find it less restrictive to abide by these, because I haven't forced them upon myself as a binding and restrictive set of rules.

Basically, just be good, live well, abide by human decency -- most times -- and live in the moment -- sometimes.

Living in a largely individualistic western society I would say my morals largely revolve around freedom of expression, a right to be who you are, as you are. Or maybe that's an ideal I dunno. My ideals are pretty much this simple outlook: chase your dreams without harming others.

This is the very least I expect from myself, and I would hope others could find the means to do the same.

Do what is best for you and your group. Do not harm any other groups in the process, unless they have harmed or are threatening to harm you or your group.

Oh. And don't be an asshole.

my morals are mostly, be honest, respectful, and most of all true to myself.
Don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you.

My ideals are just simple, live life and deal with the things you encounter, be myself and don't let others lead you into something you ain't

Thank you for the information, I've never heard of Secular Humanism but I'll definitely research it more.
I'd like to think of myself as someone with strong morals even though I'm not religious at all. We all live in a society and we can't pretend that we're something separate from everybody else. Most of the things we do affect others and the things others do affect us. I think we should all look after each other first but when your own comfort starts affecting other people negatively you should stop.

It is my belief that without a moral authority, a supreme being, there can be no morality. There can only be societal norms. I am a Christian and adhere to those beliefs as taught by the Episcopalian Church. There are only two moral imperatives: To love the Lord, God with all your heart and to love thy neighbor as one's self. That pretty much covers everything.

    Personally, what I value most:
    1. Honesty
    2. Loyalty
    3. Kindness

The only morals and ethics I see anymore are "lie, cheat, and steal" to get what you want, even if that means selling out those around you and/or prostituting yourself in any way possible, and "me, myself, and I...GIMME, GIMME, GIMME NOW, for FREE"!

My morals is to always put myself last and to put others ahead of me.

Others is just to show respect

    - Ethics: when I feel (literally) something's unfair or just too perfect to be on this world.
    - Morals: society's standards. Might agree with them or not.
