It's pretty self explanatory. Do you think people take too many pictures, especially selfies, now that cameras are so readily accessible.

Yes! There are way too many selfies out there. Unless you're doing something cool like this:

    Nobody cares!

    Yes. Many factors for this.

The fact that the marginal cost of taking a digital photo and distributing/archiving it is essentially zero is one.

No, I don't think we take too many pictures. I think we take more than we have ever taken before because we carry around the devices that have cameras built in them. I think i is great that we take so many pictures though! We will have all those pictures (even the embarrassing selfies) to look back on and remember EVERYTHING! That is a luxury (or a curse) that no other generation had!

Yes, far, far too many. Sometimes, I'd just rather remember things, than have pictures.

One thing I hate is being at a concert, and I cant see a thing, because everyone is holding up their phones...very, very annoying. Can't they just live in the moment, and enjoy a good show? Gets on my nerves.

As an avid picture taker I'd say "yes." I find that if I'm so focused on getting a great photo I don't enjoy the actual moment itself so much. Because of this I've consciously cut back on the amount of photos I take. I'd rather see the world unobstructed by my phone screen.

    No.

Unless the act of taking and sharing pictures is something that absorbs their day, then I can't see a reason why I should make a blanket judgment about how many pictures are acceptable. Before there were personal pictures, there were personal paintings. People enjoying having images of themselves, their families, or their lives is far from some new "narcissistic" phenomenon. I have always felt that disagreeing with that practice is silly and often condescending, even if some happen to do it more than you would enjoy.

This is all coming from someone who almost never takes pictures.

Your experience isn't real unless you get a photo of it for social media..

I don't think it's as bad now that I'm a little older but there was a time when I swear a lot of people I know only did the things they did so they could post pictures of it on fb later

Some people need to live in the moment more. Share an experience with the people you're with, the world doesn't need to know and tbh doesn't care

Yes! Especially now that there are a lot of cheap camera phones! Selfies, selfies everywhere!

No. Pictures are memories of the past. Many who grew up in past wish they had more pictures of themselves when they were younger. It is good that anyone is able to have access to cameras now.

You can never take too many pictures of you and your loved ones or friends together, for memories. Selfies are extremely egotistical though.

Yes. The art of photography has become a thing of the past.

    It's all just crap now.

I remember back in my day when you had to sit still for minutes on end while the daguerreotypes completed their exposure.

Those were the good ol' days.

I think people nowadays are obsessed with documenting their life. Each and every moment is important and should not be forgotten. Taking pictures is a way to capture and remember the past. You want to be able to look back and say that you've lived. Well, that's how I see it anyway.

I think taking dozens if not hundreds of pictures of your face is dumb but on the other hand I love taking pictures of everything to have memories later on. I have close to 2k pictures on my phone and these are ones I didn't want to delete after putting them on my computer.
