Brooding or Smiling?

There seems to be an assumption out there that women in general find happy and smiling men less sexy. So, to our men-loving folks, what is your take on this?

Actually I prefer guys breaking down in tears.

Although, seriously, I find this a bit strange. So the study (?) claims women prefer guys to brood in pictures? I don't think it means women often want to see brooding men, in person.

I do find it annoying when people are seemingly deliriously happy with smiles almost 24/7. But I think almost everyone could agree with that. I'd generally rather see people being honest about their emotions, within reason.

I like happy, smiling people, as long as they're not excessively perky.

I don't know... Laughing is pretty much one of the sexiest things a person can do, IMO.

I love smiling guys--so cute  "Brooding" doesn't really do much for me.

According to my mum and best friend, I have a naturally grumpy and unapproachable look on my face all the time. A couple of other girls I know have the same 'problem'. We call it 'resting bitch face'

I've heard of that before

I think no matter the person or what their smile looks like, smiling makes everybody look better. That being said, people should be relatively honest about their emotions, and if you smile for hours straight....

Here I thought I was the only one who felt that crying guys could be cute. It must be the protective instincts or something. Works with girls too actually.

Of the choices though I prefer smiling. Brooding looks attractive, but at the same time off-putting like he's not approachable. A smiling guy means he's open to talking to, which is more attractive than the scowl bringing out his chiseled features. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I don't mind! I like seeing men who are expressive. Stoic is fine too. Grumpy, no.

It depends on what suits them. I don't really mind either or, just as long as they're not jerks.

I guess it's the macho, tough guy thing to do.

So many men I know, mostly in their 20s and younger, don't like to smile for pictures. They have this very neutral or brooding face.

Some folks may see a brooding face and think, "Oh, it's the troubled soul, who only needs the POWER of LOVE and FRIENDSHIP to overcome their dark past..."

I'm partial to smirks. I find they reveal more about a person than a smile or brooding, because there isn't a universal type of smirk. You see pieces of a personality in them, but that's just me. With smiles, a lot of them look fake to me, even if they aren't, in photographs. In person, this can be different.

THIS is what I like in a picture....

A soft smile. Broody people look like miserable fucks. And that whole moody luck does nothing to my pants

Yep so true, some people just fake smiles and when they do it looks pretty obvious.

Typically, I do smile quite a lot and I'm an optimist, but I do have times where I brood. It truly depends on the person for me.

I find laughter and smiling to be very attractive, emotionally and even sometimes physically.

However, I do like stoic qualities in people, and I also do gravitate towards broody people. As long as the person who broods or is negative is caring or has other traits that seem to balance that out, then it could work for me.
