I'm talking about the one behind trans*.
Some people use it for including everyone i don't because i think trans should be the general term *or not but that's not the point here.
I read somewhere that it was originally used to discriminate trans women in some way. However google denies me information.Could someone bring a little bit light into this and explain the history behind it?

Well I guess if it is an official record or something it may of originally been used as in this kind of manner:
    Roger Peterson: Male
    Frankie Peterson: Female
    Garreth Petterson: Male
    Patricia Peterson: Female*
    Brian Peterson: Male

    *Trans.

As in to indicate who is trans in a long list of something simmilar to the aforemeniones example, but that's just my little theory.

Actually, the asterisk in trans is controversial. I'm not sure if it's a majority view, but enough academics I respect have said it's transphobic that I have learned not to use it. Instead, if I'm being inclusive, I try to use the expression "trans, genderqueer, and agender" rather than saying something like "trans*."

More and more though, I have been trying to stop using trans terminology at all and simple refer to people as the gender they are.
