Awhile back my grandfather said something that really stuck with me. "Boyfriends, girlfriends will leave you, but family, family is always there" He's not the first to say it but still. I've spent a lot of time thinking about that. Famila love (at least according to C.S. Lewis) means unconditional love. And this makes me wonder. Is that true? Because yeah my parents will always love their daughter...But I'm not their daughter. I'm their son. They just don't know it. And there's more than that. I'm mean when family does something horrible we abandon them. Family doesn't love nearly as unconditionally as it should. So I wanna ask. What's your take on the matter?
One would assume that family would love unconditionally or at least nearly unconditionally. But there are always people that let their ignorance cloud their judgment. As a great character person once said "Blood makes you relatives. But loyalty makes you family"
Some people really are fortunate enough to have unconditional love from their parents. I have a friend who was unfortunately abused by her brother and her mother still loves both of them. Some people are blinded by love and cannot see their children's flaws. On one hand having that love is a blessing but also it may not always be deserved.
