Have you or someone else you know suffered or are suffering from a mental illness? If so what are they? What are your views on the stigma surrounding mental illnesses?

Depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue. The days I can get out of bed, I sure wish I didn't have to...

I always thought I have ADHD. I cant manage to finish a book because I cant focus that much. I get easily distracted by small things. I told my mom about this, she just said that maybe I am just making an excuse for being lazy  Tho some people I have talked to about this said that maybe it is just an "artist thing". IDK.

I think people with mental illness shouldnt be feared or avoided, instead they should feel that someone is caring and thinking about them.

While I'm not schizophrenic, my doctors have said I suffer from a number of psychoses. I see I'm the first person who got to check off all the ticks in the boxes!

Anyway, yeah, my psychoses, I believe my house is under surveillance by the post office-- don't ask. And I'm one of those people who scratches the eyes off the Leprechaun on the boxes of Lucky Charms because I think he's reading my mind. To name two.

My uncle lives with schizophrenia and takes his meds for 20 years now.

I have bipolar disorder II and heavy anxiety, I'm still trying to find a way to live a normal life...

I have OCD. There's a family history of it, so it's not surprising that I was diagnosed with it.

It wasn't diagnosed, but I also think I might have a slight anxiety disorder. Not sure what kind, but there's something there.

Not sure if this would fit here but I've Autism and 22q deletion syndrome. I do have a chance of getting psychosis, but it hasn't happened yet.

I've read the criteria for it and I'm wondering if there are different levels of it, from high functioning to low functioning. I'd bet there are.

Then, there are these other conditions called schizoid and schizotypal, which aren't schizophrenia, but could border on or become schizophrenia.

With mental illness, there's a lot of comorbidity, especially with some of the diagnoses. Other diagnoses are often attached to them.

I've been living with depression and generalized anxiety for more than a decade... After months of self-harm, I told my parents that I wanted to get some help (without telling them about the self-harm) and they told me "You only think you're depressed because that's the cool thing to be right now." Then I went through about a year of abuse and suffer from PTSD because of it...

Still haven't gotten any help to this day... sigh

I have mild Aspberger's and some degree of anxiety. Neither one is enough to take medication or trouble my life much. So I guess I'm lucky in that regard. But honestly, I don't know many people without some kind of mental issue.

I've never been diagnosed for anything so i can't say I have anything for sure. I think I have been depressed in the past though.

My older nephew has Been diagnosed with OCD though.
