Traditionally people think of gay people as being victims due to homophobia. But since at least in western countries homophobia is far less of a problem, will being straight lead to a better life?

On one hand going out with the same sex seems more fun as you don't have to mess around with the misunderstanding that two people of the opposite sex usually have. But on the other hand it's actually difficult to find a partner in the first place.

What are your opinions on this topic?

Its definitely easier. At least at first. Thats why we are pushing for rights and what not. Hopefully, eventually no one will have to ask this question. Also "better" is a tricky word. Careful with that.

No. It might be easier, but it isn't better.

You're less likely to be discriminated against, but it doesn't guarantee an easy or successful life.

Ok, admittedly it was an unfortunate title. Which on it's own can be seen as homophobic. However I hope that you can see that it wasn't meant to be.

But even once all those rights have been won for example in the UK. Is it even then, just as easy to be gay as straight.

Laws do not equal society. Really we just have to wait until everyone accepts LGBTQA+ people in society. Even that said different groups will get accepted sooner than others. You can't really force such things.

Ha, trans bi here. Don't make me laugh! : DD
People who are different will likely feel the sting of that for some time. Not necessarily forever, though. *cough* Viva la revolution *cough, cough*

Well today in this world it is strictly better. Can't think of any situation where being not straight could help you.

"Better" wouldn't be the word I would use to describe it. More like "Easier."

EDIT: Just read the previous replies and lol glad to see everyone thinks the same already.

Better is too vague and subjective.

Overall I think it may be easier, as already mentioned. However again as mentioned we have the benefit of understanding each other far more easily.(in my opinion anyway)

It's hard to say one is better over the other because it comes from the bias of having that sexuality.

Straight people get more privilege, but on the other hand gay relationships have less restrictions and expectations on average.

Let me rank them order of 'better'ness:

Being off this planet >>>>>>>>>>>> straight/gay

Not gonna say I'm speaking for her, but I'm sure she means that:

    - Straight people have the obvious priviledge of being so in a very 'heterocentric' world(do I need to elaborate?)

    - In a gay relationship, since it isn't man/woman, it, often enough, shatters the whole 'gender role' crap of many het relationships, due to there being a lack of the other gender.

I know a couple couples that shatter those gender roles. I suppose that's because of the feminists?

I'm not too sure what you're asking here. I simply meant that, as a general thing, many, many hetero relationships are still defined by what a man is supposed to do/be and what a woman is supposed to do/be(wasn't saying there aren't exceptions).

With a man/man or woman/woman relationship, they lack the other the other by default, so (usually) aren't pressured into following such 'rules'.

Of course it's "easier"...But I will ALWAYS pick being Gay over being a straight boy...Fuck that shit...

And I'm sure the straight boys feel the same way, in reverse.
