College campuses are generally accepting, as long as you're not at Liberty University. However there are always going to be homophobic assholes wherever you go.

In my university, I think people are very accepting, albeit it being a "religious" university. Although, we have an organization, if they are even an organization, for LGBT people but they are not "officially recognized" by the school. They do have an own spot for their org though. (I am not even sure if they are for the whole LGBT or just gays and lesbians, and if it's the latter, that's really sad.)

Ugh, everyone's homophobic here even my own family and it's much worse when there's Family reunions because you get to hear them joke just about anything that is really offensive.

People can be a bit homophobic sometimes, but usually it's without realising it. We need more education when it comes to LGBT issues.

That's why I've always avoided family reunions, well my extended family, I can't handle them at all XD

As a whole, no. I'm sure there are homophobes here and there, but I've never felt uncomfortable being gay at work or school. I see so many gay people every day and work with a lot of queer people. My school recognizes National Coming Out Day and hangs rainbow flags and banners everywhere around the atrium.

I live in the part of Texas where being gay isn't a death sentence by any means.

Well, I'm sure there are many individual homophobes on campus, but I've yet to come across any who are vocal about it, and the overall vibe is pretty positive. I think.

My workplace isnt. There is a bit of friendly banter like "thats gay" but nothing serious.

This is amusingly coincidental because I was supposed to go to a family cookout thing yesterday and decided against it, partly due to what you say above.

I live in highly homophobic country in general, so yes, many people around me are homophobes. It's annoying.

Back when I was in school, the majority of kids were not homophobic. But there still were some jokes made and a lot of use of the word "faggot", so it did bother me a bit. For the most part, people around here are pretty accepting and they don't view being LGBT as a big deal. You tell someone your brother or your friend is gay, and no one really cares.

Not at all. Actually a quarter to a third of my colleagues is LBGT as well, so if anyone would make a homophobic remark, they'd get quite some backlash.

Yay for working in fashion retail.

My school was a hell hole, but looking back with all the queer people I see now who I had classes with, maybe I would have been safe.

In terms of where I worked, it was really relaxed and laid back--so no, it wasn't a bigot zone.

I go to a left wing English uni, so most people are gay friendly.

I grew up in Eastern Europe though and the majority are homophobic so everyone at my schools growing up was homophobic.

In my school, yes. Very. And like literaly, no one comes out in my city, because they are afraid. And I'm not talking about teasing by words. Half of my family are too. Especially my dad. He has so much hate towards LGBT people.

Some people at my school are homophobic, because I live in a farming county. I have a friend who is prone to saying homophobic things, but that's really just his dad speaking. And in that circle of friends, it's him, me, a pansexual crossdressing friend, an LGBT ally and a bisexual friend. So he gets shot down pretty hard, and he always apologizes. However, some people have made very homophobic comments - I have been called "gay", "faggot" and similar for as long as I can remember. Nowadays, they do it less so, but I hear remarks every few weeks. Which means that it must happen an awful lot. Maybe I am a bit sensitive, but really these things should never be said. Ever.
