I don't think anyone here is going to like TERFs, but it is kind of interesting to see such a divide. Is it really necessary for some feminists to say that transwomen are not "real women"? Apparently for some it is: TERF is a slur
For people who aren't familiar with the term: TERF: Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist I think it's utter bullshit, for several reason. I won't get into all that now though, as I'm not feeling too great. It's important to realize there's a reason they are called TERFs and not just "feminists". The views of TERFs do not reflect the views of all feminists. (and everyone else for that matter)
Obviously this TERF shit is a load of rubbish and completely negates the definition of feminism as a whole.
one does not exclude the other. One can also be gay and racist for example.Hell there are even homophobic gays running around.Just because one does belong to a discriminated minority doesn't automatically make you accepting of other minoritys as well.
Agreed with everyone else. ANY form of extremist movement is bad and not one that I would want to be associated with.
TERF is an accurate term, not a slur. People like Cathy Brennan are not true feminists because they don't care about their sisters, they only care about their cis-ters. Feminism is also not supposed to be exclusionary, and they obviously are.
Huh, never heard of this. There's probably not a whole lot of these TERFs out there, I'd imagine, especially that there's not even that many radical feminists, as a % of society. They do sound annoying, but I can't say I've ever encountered such a person.
