I was asking people to critique my dating profile and someone said I came across as a manic pixie dream girl. They also said I'm young(as if I don't know) and don't seem that special. I did mention on my profile that I'm into art and inspired by cute animals. It's true. I also like wearing fun and feminine clothes.
This person isn't worth listening to. For one, how is a manic pixie dream girl not special? I'm curious what is special to this individual...
What happened to Kaiser's usual font? Doesn't look Kaiserish Some well-meaning individuals will always criticize.
If you don't know what that means, how can you be doing it with any particular goal in mind? Keep on being yourself and forget anyone who might say otherwise. That message can be safely disregarded.
I know what it means, I just don't know what's so bad about it. I'm guessing they don't like the way I dress and my interests. Based on them saying that I don't seem that different, I'm guessing they think I'm just some teen trying to seem different. They proabably think "being myself" involves wearing jeans and t-shirts and talking about Netflix.
Well, they do have quite a sensible advice though "go into details of the thing you like", other than that, ignore the rest.
It seems I assumed too much because I honestly don't know what it means lol. To urbandictionary! But yeah 'twas a silly silly comment. EDIT: So it's a trope used in fiction that's negatively received because it's trite and generally faux-quirky. Welp, joke's on them if you actually are as vivacious as a movie character XD.
IMO it's just a backlash against Zoe Deschanel ubiquity. And if we're going to be honest, there's only so much of that wide-eyed, faux-innocent facial expression I can take before I want to slap her lol. Not sure who you asked to critique your dating profile, but strangers can be mean. If they're saying you're not special without knowing a thing about you, they're the ones with a problem, not you!
Oh, I googled it and it's actually a thing. Well, "that bubbly, shallow cinematic creature that exists solely in the fevered imaginations of sensitive writer-directors to teach broodingly soulful young men to embrace life and its infinite mysteries and adventures" doesn't exactly sound like a compliment. It means one-dimensional/boring, it seems. Which would be bad.
It's bad because it's cliche. Folks hate cliches and want to seem interesting, unique, different. News flash people, it's all been done before. Your birth was a cliche. So stop bitchin bout cliches.
I guess it is. It's better than being The Average Teen™. I think that's more cliche than a Manic Pixie Dream girl.
Pixie Delegate here, and I'll say only this: Being a pixie makes you (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*) (*hug*)
