Can you tell us a little more about him? How do you know him? How often do you see him? How many of your friends/family members does he know? etc

There are many different reasons why people like him dislike gays, and one of them is simply that they don't know anyone who's gay, or have never dealt with them personally. If this is the case, coming out to him might change his views. However, as was said above, it might also be dangerous to come out to someone with such radical anti-gay views. Personally, I wouldn't come out to him, but that's just me.

well the fact that he want to join the army doesn't mean anything, i'll be joining the army in a couple of years and i'm far from anti-gay . Something to remember though is such a reaction probably means that he's probably insecure about his own sexuality and that's why he has taken such a hard line on it.

I wouldn't tell him. Why do you have to tell him? Is he a close friend of yours?

Typical homophobe. I say you should have just yawn at him and call it a day. And you don't need to say anything to him. Once ignorant, always ignorant...

I have to disagree and say you should come out to him.
I came out to a guy who I knew for about a year who I'm friends with but he's a complete bigot (he's still a disgusting racist), when I came out to him he was shocked at first but I think I made good impression on him.
He used to think that gay people have chosen to be gay and could never understand it, now he knows a lot more about gay life and he's a bit less naive and a lot more tolerant now he knows someone gay.
I had hoped it would stop hhs racism a bit aswell but no such luck...

Yeah I know, was just hoping it would have made him a bit more open minded and tolerant of other things too... I suppose you can't have it all though, a minor victory at least for wiping out bigotry!

  14. Ummm that's a slightly.....different reason for joining the army I must say. I would say to abstain from telling him, but it's up to you of course.

Ok changed my mind, he's either a complete physcopath, just a prick, or trying to hide his vunerable side behind a huge macho side.
Either way I doubt now that coming out to him would achieve anything, unless you just want some peace of mind yourself from telling him.
Otherwise I avoid people like him like the plague

That's scary. Not only would I not come out to him, I'd sever all ties with him, unless it's unavoidable.

Yes, he sounds like the sort of person I would want nothing to do with.
