Do you speak slang or dialect? Are you using fancy words or words everyone else would have to look up in a dictionary?Do you speak differently when around different people?

I definitely use more slang when I'm with friends. I talk pretty different around my family compared to around my friends. I also talk a little bit differently when I'm with people who don't speak English as well (I have a lot of relatives who don't).

I think I have a decent-sized vocabulary for someone my age, but I don't think people would need a dictionary when speaking with me :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

  3. For the most part I try to flatten out my accent (it's one of those annoying ones) with annoying results. I also tend to use really elaborate words that people would need to consult a dictionary for.

Quirky, I use words most people don't use and can confuse people but my real problem with speaking is that I mumble way too much and speak fast so it can be a chore for some people to understand me plus my accent doesn't help when I talk to people from outside England

I use less slang than a long-tailed polecat in a roomful of rocking chairs!

I dont really know how to describe it other than that I speak like your average american white girl. When I mad my speech speeds up and when I'm tired my Spanish accent makes itself known xD

Sophisticated with a pinch of ebonics, a splash of vibrant fuckin' vulgarity, and a dash of pompous elegance. Served with a side of informal articulation and selective ridiculousness.

I can be as casually lazy as necessary, or as complexly diverse as required. But generally, it's a mixture of these things, all delivered with a Kentuckian dialect.

If I had to sum it up, I'll quote somebody from years ago:

"The way you talk is fuckin' schizophrenic, it's all over the place. But I love it!"

My mood, not so much people, determines my manner of speaking. Sometimes the topic, too, depending on how severely serious it is.

I like to use a lot of Canadian slang. And occasionally I'll catch myself sounding really Canadian.

Pronouncing 'car', 'kerr'. Y'know, stuff like that. (Not the aboot thing. We don't actually say that.)

No real strong accent because I live on the U.S. west coast, and really really really monotone, and really sarcastic. I like to use big words when talking to myself(yes I do that), though I like to keep it simple when talking to most people.

I talk in full sentences and don't use slang, exactly, but I do use swear words. I have a tendency to overuse "like" when I'm nervous. Other people would probably say I don't talk enough.

    Depends.

Formal, but not stuffy. Informal, and definitely not stuffy. Downright crass sometimes, which comes fairly easily and can be a lot of fun, with others who can do the same and fan the flames.

I sometimes find myself speaking in local slang.. like in Yorkshire we have a stereotype for not using 'the', and sometimes I don't use it. Like instead of saying 'I'm going to the supermarket', I might say 'I'm going to supermarket'.

Other than that, I dunno. I swear a lot. I probably come across as common because of my vulgarity and loudness. I don't think I have any inhibitions. Woe is me.

I do, however, speak clearly and I don't have a strong local accent. I just can't help but insert expletives in every other sentence, and people always say that you can hear me before you can see me. I try to tone it down though.. operative word being 'try'.
