So, we have a thread for beautiful & touching song lyrics already, so why not have a thread for ridiculous lyrics? Rules: Keep it apropriate. You know, rules and stuff. It has to be from a serious song. No "Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band"s allowed! I will start with the profound and beatiful lyrical stylings of King Crimson. I can't remember any lyrics save part of the chorus, so if you actually care, you will have to google. "Autographed pictures of Shakespeare fishing gear/ Head phone Madison Square garden hose/ The world's my oyster soup kitchen wax floor museum."
"So I'm out to cut the junkie With the plastic eyeballs, Spray-paint the vegetables Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose" -Beck
Anything to do with 'swag' 'This right here is my swag' 'Turn my swag on' 'Swag it out' SOMEONE MAKE SWAG GO AWAY
From "I Need A Girl" by P Diddy & Usher: "First we were friends then became lovers You was more than my girl, we was like brothers" I can't decide which is worse: the horrible gender confusion here since you and a girl cannot be like brothers, or the incestuous undertones of this whole metaphor.
Easy there--that's my mother you're talking about! Actually, her songs that get airplay & end up on the charts aren't that ~intellectual~ or whatever you wanna call it, but she is capable of writing really beautiful songs. A lot of the songs on her last album came from dark things she's experienced in her life.
Honestly, this group either has relatable and meaningful songs/lyrics (like 'N.O', 'No More Dream', 'School Of Tears', 'Tomorrow' and 'Spine Breaker') or lyrics like these: BTS - Where Did You Come From? “You look fresh like a salad, so smooth” “Stop playing hard to get before I kick you in the butt” BTS - Boy In Luv “ABCDEFGH Hakuna Matata!” BTS - War of Hormone “After fighting my hormones again today, I'll pop my pimple” Reminder that this is translated from Korean... I don't know if these are things people in Korea regularly say or whatever so I wouldn't call them stupid lyrics, it just sounds interesting when you translate it to English (because you wouldn't really say those things in English).
Can we lay off the pop-hating? I can't say I like it, but that's not the point. This is a thread for funny, random and stupid lyrics, not bitching about whoever is in vogue. Apart from that, there has been some funny stuff! What about the classic: A Day in the Life - The Beatles "And though the holes were rather small/ They had to count them all/ Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall/ I'd love to turn you on." That song was actually banned in Britain, for talking about smoking pot.
'Letters to Lil Wayne' and 'All Things Go' are beautiful songs. Very emotional and personal. She's got all that gimmicky chart crap which really is garbage, but she does have another side to her too.
5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks So Perfect "You look so perfect standing there In my American Apparel underwear" Gag me with a spoon. Anything by Train: Train - Hey, Soul Sister "Your lipstick stains on the front lobe of my left side brains" "My heart is bound to beat right out my untrimmed chest"
Almost any lyric can sound stupid when you isolate and speak it, since lyrics are not meant to be spoken or read out of context. But there are some that stand out as especially bad.
Juicy J's entire verse in "I Don't Mind" by Usher is terrible. I'll let you all search that on your own since I won't be caught dead posting that.
I disagree. I admire both ladies, and I can say not everything they sing about is complete utter sh*t. Perry's "Thinking of You" is one of the most emotional songs I've heard in my life. Also, she has a song called "Lost" which no one pretty much knew because it was outshined by her outrageous other songs such as "I Kissed a Girl" or "Ur So Gay". Lady Gaga is also known for her nonsensical lyrics but she's pretty much a talented songwriter. Songs like "Brown Eyes" and "Speechless" are pretty nice songs, departures from the likes of "Poker Face" or "Venus". Also, check her older album named "Red and Blue" it had better songs but without the Gaga name (she used her real name back then). So, yeah.
