So in World War 2, two powers formed, the Axis and the allies. This question is which Axis Power would you have sided with. No Allies powers allowed and do not say none, cause I am legitimately interested in which Axis power people would join. Here are a couple of Axis Powers(Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, I think a couple more are in there but I can't name them all). Lets also say for easy reasoning, we'll incorporate powers that changed sides at one point in the war and say because they started as part of the Axis powers, they are officially part of that group.

I would say Italy(I would've sided with). They seemed a bit neutral really in the war and the leader of Italy Mussolini did not commit as bad crimes as Hitler's Germany and Stalin's Russia did. Also Japan did commit many vast crimes against the people of SE Asia, so I wouldn't join them. Or we really don't know but it seems a safer option to go with as I don't know of many extreme evils that Mussolini commited against anyone.

Anthonythegamer I would like to hear why for your reason you picked Japan, In fact for everyone explain why you picked that Axis power to side with.

Well originally Hitler allied with Russia so I've grouped them together even though they aren't officially an Axis Power.

I don't think they allied. I'm pretty sure they signed a non-aggression pact and divided Poland if I'm not mistaken.

Well yeah I read a tiny bit and Russia is kinda on its own although it is considered a part of the Allies. So take the Soviet Union out from the original post.

Even though it's not as simple as this, it's almost as if you're asking which poison we'd prefer to use to kill: cyanide, poisonous gas, or any other horror? It's hard to justify hypothetically supporting terrorization and domination of Asia, or genocide, and other things.

Well I'm actually asking you which of the evils you would choose to side with. Me and Purp have chosen the lesser of all the evils in the Axis Powers in Italy.

Honestly though in every war and situation I would always choose Australia.

Well I rather die a traitor to my country in all honesty. But since Italy finally did the right thing I would choose Italy cause they did surrender eventually.

To the ones thinking of Finland:

At no point in WW2 did Finland join the Axis pact. They did ally with the Germans against the Bolshevik threat (so did many, many people from occupied countries all over Europe), but their relationship was strained at best. In fact, in late 1944, Finland declared war on Germany, after signing an armistice with Russia (look up the Lapland war).

If I had to pick, I'd go for the Division Azul, the Spanish volunteer division fighting for Germany in the eastern front.
Why, you may ask? Simple: As soon as the war started going badly, Franco recalled the division back to Spain, so they wouldn't have to deal with the angered Ruskies.

And if they don't count, then the Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the Waffen-SS (Lauri Törni's unit).

I'm tempted to say Germany, but I have Jewish heritage so, I'd be screwed and constantly scared that someone might find out. Then again, living in that type of environment would be very stressful for me, not just for just my Jewish background. Japan is tempting too, but nuclear bombs were dropped on them.

With more thought, I'm stuck between Russia and fleeing to Sweden. Russia was allied to Hitler until he made the stupid move to become their enemy, and he didn't even have enough sense to research their climate! :eusa_doh: The Axis Powers could've won with Russia on their side.

I think I'll go with Sweden.

Finland, they only allied with Germany to push out the Soviets.

Though if you mean major Axis powers, I'd go with Italy. They had the least deaths of all the Axis.

Actually, if you have Jewish heritage, you could have gone to Japan. There was this very weird thing going on at the time. The Japs, for one reason or another, had this belief going on that the Jews were actually the ultimate gods of money, or something like that, and were desperate to gather as many Jews as possible so they would bolster their economy.

In fact, Japanese ships rescued quite a few Jewish refugees from German persecution, most of these settling down in Kobe.

I'd have to go with Bulgaria. Bulgaria refused to give up it's Jewish population to the Nazis even after aligning with the Axis Powers. This is extremely important, as I am a proud Jewish person of ethnicity and Religion.
