Motivation - exercise-wise

So I'm watching Full Metal Jacket at the moment.

For those of you who don't know, it's a Vietnam War movie, that focuses on the training of the soldiers in the first half, before moving onto the actual war in the second half. Their trainer is absolutely ruthless, and screams at them at the top of his lungs to get them working.

I reckon that kind of motivation - getting so worked up from someone yelling at me to do something - would actually help me exercise. So I might look into a boot-camp related thing at some point, just to get myself to an acceptable standard.

How do you guys all prefer to exercise? In your own time, or with a group? With someone yelling at you to do something, or somebody nicely encouraging you to do it "because you're doing so well"?

I like to work out by myself. When I go to the gym I put my Ipod on and tune out everything else. I consider it my 'me' time.
