Ok, I wasn't sure if you were talking about Ayn Rand or Rand Paul. No, I don't agree with Ayn Rand. Despite being libertarian, I believe in a sense of order and some authority.
I got bored as hell reading Atlas Shrugged. I have finished The Fountainhead though. While it would be extreme to say I agreed with everything while reading that book, I did like a lot of the message about following your dreams and ambitions even if a majority stands against you. There was a lot of spot-on commentary about how it's this pitiful aspect of human nature that tries to put other people down out of envy, becoming angry with people for their talent rather than cherishing it and using it as inspiration to step up your own game.
I have some libertarian ideas and I know that among many libertarians, they look highly on Rand, but Objectivism is a bit too extreme for me. I agree with her philosophical ideas about reality--that it exists independently of consciousness. But as for her economic and political views, not so much. Her views almost tend toward anarcho-capitalism, which I don't agree with.
I think Murray Rothbard would have been agast to hear such a statement. Ayn Rand was clearly a statist.
I personally consider it one of the most dangerous and destructive philosophies of the 20th century, on par with fascism and communism.
You mean the antifeminist, egoist, capitalist who liked kissing American a$$? Yeah, some "decent" woman...
