I've recently made a decision to consciously be honest and not exaggerate when I talk to people. It appears that honesty is so uncommon now that people are surprised by it. It also gets a heck of a lot of laughs. So, I'm wondering - how often are you honest when talking to people? And what are some experiences you've had when telling the truth, stretching the truth or outright lying?
I like to think I'm a really honest person because I hate lying. But at the same time, I think I bend the truth a lot, sometimes without even realizing it. For example, I'll never lie to my parents but if they come home and I know they'll ask if I've been doing homework (and I haven't), I'll get my homework out and look at it for like 30 seconds and tell them I have, just so I don't feel like I'm lying. It's a bad habit!
80-90% The only times I'm really dishonest is if I don't want to talk about something, or if I just don't want to disappoint a family member.
I'm very honest (& blunt) when asked for my opinion, but I do a LOT of exaggerating. I don't think exaggerating counts as lying unless you're being asked for facts or statistics or something like that. I never tell anything beyond a white lie anymore.
91-100%. I like being honest not only because being caught in a lie might be bad for my career (law enforcement, they will kick you out hardcore if you lie about things that matter) but also because the truth is usually the most effective way to communicate. Lastly, if ever I do need to lie while people expect me to tell the truth, it will work.
I'm usually a very honest person, though my perception can exaggerate things a bit. I've been told I'm a terrible liar and I usually just keep quiet instead.
I'm very honest. I avoid BSing people. Sometimes I have trouble telling someone if something's bothering me though.
arfff i pick 71-80% there are certain condition where i have to lie or bend the truth a little, notoriously because patient demand it. which happens quite a lot apparently... i also refuse to tell / talk about certain thing if i'm not willing to discuss it. Not lying tho, just keep silent and not talking... i hate lying i better not talking at all than telling a lie or a made up things
I tell the truth 99% of the time excluding my parents. They're too smothering and overprotective for the truth.
70-80 You know you have to lie sometimes to keep good business relationships and keep some people happy. Other than that I am very blunt... even rude if I think person I am dealing with needs harsh words of truth.
I would say probably around 80-90% of the time. I'm more likely to white lie rather than tell serious ones.
I lie a lot. When it comes to how I feel or what I want, I tend to tell bare-faced lies with no regrets.
