I'll counter the "Would you wear a kilt" question with "would you wear a sarong"?

I wear sarong to show respect while visiting religious sights. I also wear sarong for HH on river trips. Its a huge social taboo not to wear a sarong on a river trip during HH. (HH = Happy Hour (afternoon consumption of alcohol.))

If I had the body for it I would. Maybe a goal there!

As it's not my culture, I wouldn't wear one in the West, but if it's someplace tropical and that's the culture; sure why not.

Probs not, it doesn't seem too allow your legs flexibility.

Now to that I would say no, mainly due to not liking thin fabric.

Sure, especially one with a traditional pattern. I was looking online, and I have a few shirts with Indonesian prints that I really like, that a friend brought me, after they visited there. I very much like the patters on some of them, so yes. Plus, it gets hot here in the summer, and they look good for warm weather.

If I was visiting a region where it was common, I might try it to say I have :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Sarong patterns are amazing. I have a few ceremonial sarongs from Indonesia. Beautiful.

If you are a male, in a humid climate, hot, sarongs let your "parts" breath. I ran into an American in Borneo who had a fungal growth on his scrotum (I was told about it only) because he insisted on wearing tight fitting western clothing. Basically his genitals did not "air out" so he got the growth.

Thats the spirit. They are actually really cool. When I came home from Southeast Asia I would wear a sarong while camped on the beach, primarily for river trips. Everyone ridiculed me, I didn't care. Now all my friends have one. On river trips its a social taboo not to have one during Happy Hour.

Oh there's nothing like letting your "boys" hang free and clear. Take the shorts off next time. Got to get you on a rive trip in the desert southwest.
