    10 Reasons God Loves Gay Christians

    I found this article and think it is a positive resource for any gay christians. It by Matthew Vines a huge advocate for the gay christian community and if you go on Youtube he has some great speeches. We need more Matthew Vines in this world in every corner shedding light on the what is wrong with conservative christians.

    This is not intended to change people minds on whether God is real or not and please keep this thread peaceful. I am sure we can all take something positive from this.

    I actually dont need anything other than the Bible to tell me these things.
    I dont have to validate my Christian salvation.
    Im Bi, Ive been with men, Ive been with women, I will be with both again (hopefully)
    If that sin is going to send me to hell, then I at least know I will have the company of the straight Christians that
    swear
    cheat on the wives
    steal
    Get Drunk
    have impure thoughts about the the hot 15 year old next door
    think about killing their boss
    basically anything that is considered a sin.
    so in short, Heaven is going to be empty and all of those telling me how Im going to hell because I can love someone of my own sex, can continue that conversation with me after death.
    we will all be burning in hell according to them.

    Well that is not what I am exactly getting at but I get what your saying. I don't believe that being homosexual is what is gonna send me to hell so I all just doing is shedding light on the progress being made in our christian community. I have a pastor in my small town who is courageous enough to stand up for gay rights and gets bashed now an than by other ministers and he is brave and a good guy.

    God is not going to make you gay or bi then turn you away from Heaven because of it.
    all you need to do is accept him and he will accept you.
    pretty simple if you ask me.
    Its also why the children are most accepted by him, they are the most accepting and the least swayed by opinion.

    Of course. God made me gay and therefore will not condemn me for it. I post this article because there a lot of gay christens who probably will benefit by seeing messages like this. Stop trying to outsmart my article lol

    Im just going to go over to the corner now and slap myself.
    seriously though, all of these people that seem to think they suddenly have some special insight on why God loves this or that, or you can get to Heaven if you do this or that kinda irritate me. Its all in the Bible, ( or the holy book for the religion of your choice ) Its not a big secret, its not hidden and it really does not require any great intellect to decipher it. The reason behind these things is simply accumulation of wealth for the author.

    I was just joking. A lot who are christian do not know this stuff and this kind of stuff helps them understand things better and maybe gives them some peace. That is all I am doing no reason to all riled up about it this comes from a good place. A lot of gay christians commit suicide cause of homophobic christians in their communities and if stuff like this can saves lives I am more than happy to do it. A lot of gay christians need this kind of message because it was a honest struggle for me and for many others but I found peace and want to help others find that peace if they wish.

    With that said i am not implying this is a main reason why people leave religion just saying it can be a factor in some situations.

    It's actually irrelevant what the bible says. The people who wrote the bible lived in a very homophobic culture. If the bible does not include homophobia then they just forgot to put it in or didn't consider it important enough to mention.

    No one listens to everything the bible says. For example, the bible is pro-slavery. Even Jesus didn't denounce it. This is because it was written by people living in a very regressive culture.

    I am very well aware of that. I am just trying to make a positive impact on those trying understand their faith.

    I know people think I am stating the obvious but not everyone is well aware of this kind of stuff Matthew Vines is saying and it is good to put out this kind of message to the gay christian who may need it!

    not saying I agree with it, Im just saying that at least in one place it is mentioned that that it is wrong.
    Effeminate was closely translated to homosexual, however the way I see it, it only would have covered men, not women, so does this mean the translation is wrong or lesbians are cool with God. Maybe the love of lesbian porn by men is a godly thing?
    by the way that can be found in 1 Corinthians 6.

    I'm always torn with these threads. I disagree with dano. I think that most (but not all) of those arguments have holes in, and I'm having to restrain myself in order not to go into more detail.

    But at the same time, I know that vulnerable people come to these threads who aren't going to be convinced that the Bible is just a collection of literature, and the more urgent need that they have is to believe that their god accepts and loves them. For the sake of those people, I generally feel like I should keep quiet. But I do think the arguments are flawed.

    I think the moral thing to do is to take a utilitarian perspective, and keep quiet. But at the same time that does feel like being intellectually dishonest.
