So I read this book once about these "urban explorers". If you don't know, it's people who find old abandoned or vacant buildings and go inside and explore if they can do it without breaking any windows or anything and they don't ever take anything, they just explore it.
I don't know if I'd ever do it but it sounds kind of interesting since I love looking at old crumbling buildings. Has anyone ever done it before?

Never done it, but I can look at pictures taken in abandon buildings for hours.

This was the first one I saw which I thought was really cool.

It would be cool, if you have someone with you and a weapon, in case there is something violent inside.

Never been inside an abandoned building. However, I think it is dumb how anyone can be trespassing even if the building hasn't been used since the 60s. I think people should be allowed to use or explore abandoned buildings at their own risk. I mean, its ridiculous to think of how many homeless are stuck on the streets when they could be in abandoned buildings which are never used lol.

Me and a friend use to do this a lot. We've been in everything from hotels to steel mills.

Edit: I thought I'd give some pointers. For anyone interested

1: Google maps is a great way to find entry and parking.
2: Bring flashlights. It might come as a surprise but a lot of places don't have power.
    3. Respirators or the very least a dust mask. There can be a lot of mold or asbestos. You will kick it up as you're walking.
4: Gloves and boots. Everything is wet. EVERYTHING.
5: Nothing is worth your life. If the floor looks unsafe. It is.

I've heard about this. I've never done it before. As cool as it sounds, exploring an abandon place alone and unprotected seems very dangerous to me. I would love to do it if there was someone I knew who could go with me.

This sounds exciting but I'd never do it alone haha.
Well if I ever do it I could start with an abandoned hospital near my house.

Would totally do this and will in due time try to to actually use this advice. So thanks for that:slight_smile:
Always had an attraction to abandoned buildings. Whenever I look at them in real life I get a funny feeling in my stomach. It feels like a literal urge to get in and get lost within.

Ruin porn is very popular in Detroit.

There is a youtuber who scouts out homes for potential buyers that are either too far or too afraid to visit Detroit, but they want to buy them and rent them. They hire this man to look at the home. He puts them in touch with crews who fix it up. Some decide to flip it, but assessments on homes are being lowered by the new mayor. Being a landlord in Detroit can be very lucrative.

Anyways, he drives around the neighborhoods and runs into some very interesting people. He does that so the investors know what they are getting into.

Yes, I have, but I've never partaken in it. Some really interesting photos on the internet though.

Yes I love urban exploring. I haven't in a while, most of the people I'd go with I've lost contract with. There is this really cool abandoned castle I want to check out soon if I can find someone to go with!

I love urban exploring. I used to do it a bit in high school, but I haven't done it lately due to some things in my way. I'd love to get back into it or form a local group for others that share my interest.

    I want to!!!

In upstate NY there are old abandoned psych hospitals, hotels, resorts, train stations...there's even an abandoned castle on its own little island in the Hudson River. I would love to photograph those places. I'm with OldLies on this one though, I would need someone to come with me or I'd definitely get freaked out.

You must be from NYC! You ever check out Sharon Springs? It's a whole town full of abandoned hotels.. I think the population went from thousands to just 300 or so people

Yes, I've done it a couple of times, it's really fun to do. Berlin is great with abandoned stuff. Also visited some places in Belgium.

Fanciest places I've been to are a children's hospital, a swimming pool, a theme park and the Belgian town Doel which is almost completely abandoned.

Me and a friend have the plan to go to another hospital soon, and to a factory where they made Nazi uniforms in World War II (it's completely empty now but I heard it has great street art. And the history of the place is interesting).
