having just replaced a blow turbo on my diesel, I can tell you that there is nothing civil about those bastards.

At least not the ones that kick back and smoke a joint or two then decide how best to hide every damn bold so you have to take the whole truck apart to get one little component out.

You're thinking of mechanical engineers. Civil engineering, at least in the US, design infrastructure.

I have never seen such a forum, but have never looked for one. After spending all day at work drafting, I can't imagine going to a forum and talking about storm drains and parking lot layouts. Do you have a specific question?

Maybe join a professional body. I once went to an event at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London. Nothing to do with civil engineering. It had just been hired by a political think tank I was involved in. Loads of pink champagne was served, I seem to recall.

    drunk engineers,
that helps to explain my truck.. thanks, I knew there was a good reason.
Its bad enough with the price of the parts let alone what it takes to put them in.
of course, maybe if I didnt have upgrades in it the price might be better.

Well, no. Drunk fee market capitalists. It was a meeting of the Adam Smith Institute, a political and economic think tank, which had hired the Institute of Civil Engineers building, which is very near the Houses of Parliament in London.

That said, an evening with a group of drunk engineers could be quite entertaining.

I can assure you it's very interesting. Throw some surveyors into the mix and hold on to your hat.

Now you're talking my language. I wouldn't mind being surveyed. Not at all. And the engineers wouldn't have to be too civil. In fact, they could throw every shred of civilisation to the wind as far as I am concerned.

Just remember how sensitive some surveyors equipment is and proceed with caution.

We could always discuss Manning's n. Flow characteristics of channels/pipes and specific drag coefficients of various liquids.

I discuss those at work all the time.
its important when trying to speed up the network to understand that a curve in the cable can cause the signal to slow down. an actual kink can cause a bottle neck.

It's amazing how engineering can cover so many of life's activities. I missed all this reading history at university.

And the best part is, unlike humans, numbers don't lie. I enjoyed the absolute nature of engineering, and it's always gratifying when your work is put in and on the ground for all to see and a lot to use.
