    Mine barely ever spanked me, but when they did, you better believe I cut out whatever it was I was doing.

    One time, my great granddad was watching my brother and me. We were rough-housing and about to get into it. Being used to getting a warning first, we expected to get away with it a little longer. My brother barely touched me and suddenly my pepop grabbed him with speed unreal of a senior citizen, bent him over his knee, and whipped the crap out of him. He only hit him once, but it was enough. To this day, my brother and I don't even bicker in front of Pepoppy.

    Moral of the story: old people don't put up with that shit.

    When I was little I was a little brat once and they spanked me one time. After that, I was never again a brat nor did I ever get spanked again.

    I can't remember the incident, but my mum told me that she slapped me as a kid once. I turned really pale and didn't say anything. That scared her and she never hit me again.

    Since I was adopted I grew up with older parents who grew up in a time in which spanking was common and not frowned upon. That being said I did get spankings. Not with a hand or a belt but with a ping pong paddle. It didnt happen to me often since I was the golden child, but my brother got it more.

    If and when I have kids I would never spank. I might give them a light smack on the back of the head and say "Hey! We dont hit!" but would never would do anything to hurt or harm the kid.

    Yes, I did get it and very often. I got it with a belt, paddle(like full wooden and hung by the kitchen with our names on it), brush..and it wasn't just from my parents. One of my mom's friends was a sadist. It's now kind of a fetish...so, thanks mom and dad.

    I was very well behaved child too btw.

    I was never spanked...it's not really an Islander thing. You do, of course, get beaten but never on the face or butt. I was only beaten once or twice and it was either with a belt or those long thin sticks from the bottom of the broom.

    Yea every once in a while. I wasn't very outright disobedient as a kid. Doesn't bother me now, and I don't think it's cruel or should be considered child abuse at all. There are limits of course, but a swat on the butt doesn't do any lasting harm and it gets the point across.
