I get obsessed with certain topics. I find it hard not to talk about them. In some strictly moderated forums I even got in trouble for that. Anyone else have this problem?
Ah, that depends on what you mean by obsession. I think most people are 'obsessed' with something or other, its just a matter of finding someone else who feels the same so you can have meaningful discussions on the subject. If an obsession is harmful or not probably depends on what it is.
Yes but I should learn to avoid them sometime for the sake of my own mental health lol But sometimes you feel need to share your perspective in the hope of enlightening someone and I don't mean convincing them they are completely wrong something just basically giving others another look at something in a different way when to comes to like politics or religion. I do get passionate though and I hope most wouldn't take it personally but I have that problem also.
I am very obsessed with certain topics and there are things I could talk on and on about and not everyone wants to hear it. That's kind of a symptom of people with Aspberger's; they have obsessions that they can talk about forever and they don't really know when to stop.
Defining "obsessed" and "obsession" is probably important to this thread. There are a number of topics I'm very passionate about, but I wouldn't go to say I'm obsessed with any of them.
Some people thought I was autistic when I was a kid. I don't mind when people use that label to describe themselves. I just don't find it useful when I'm trying to describe myself. I'm happy being perceived as a quirky nerd. I do find the labels OCD and ADHD more useful. When it comes to talking about obsessions, I do know when to stop. I just have a very hard time stopping. Constantly thinking about a topic is what an obsession is for me. I constantly think about my sexual orientation, so that would be an obsession. I'm also obsessed with sexual fluidity mainly because that's caused a lot of anxiety for me. I'm trying to use my brain to prove it doesn't apply to me. I know it doesn't really work like that, but I'm the obsessive type.
True I been blocking narrow minded people on Facebook all day but at least it has been only like five people lol
