I am not transitioned yet but when I sign up for things (like facebook, twitter, ect), it bothers me when they ask me if I'm male or female. Like, right now I'm female but I feel male, so what am I supposed to pick?! I was wondering if any other non-transitioned transgender (or intersex etc...) people hesitate when asked this question.
Most of the time, as long as I won't get troubles (a.k.a some letter from the law accusing me of breaking some weird law), my choice is male, and I put my real name, (Frank) Michael. I have recently started to close my eyes when confronted with the fake data on my id. Just don't want to see myself doing it. Or if I'm in a good mood, I even try to make fun of it and laugh, 'cause I just don't want to get pissed off.
I think Facebook has changed that. When I signed up like 2 months ago there were a bunch of options for gender beyond male and female. A lot of things are becoming more inclusive in that regard.
Only time I tick "male" is on government papers, more or less. On the internet and such, I don't even blink.
As long as it's not something official (like for school) or something that people I know will see, I always choose male. I don't consider myself female, so I wouldn't pick that one.
It's so frustrating when it's online and they have a male and female box but you can only tick one. I just think how simple it would be to let people like me tick both.
Yeah, I get that. Even here on 'Would you date a transgender?' It took me a while to click male on the poll... I personally get really pissed of about this, and I think on a test at school I circled both or neither of the boxes for sex because there's never 'other'. It's not much ink to write another word on a piece of A5 paper you cheapskates!
