I do! I am skeptic at the same time but i've heard and I THINK seen a ghost or ''spirit'' before. I have been interested in joining paranormal groups when I move to Brisbane.. It's like a dream of mine to go ghost hunting. As silly as that may be to others I legit think it's a cool hobby/interest!

I also do believe in the afterlife because of the stories my father and grandmother have told me about my uncle.. They've experienced some things. And they aren't the type of people who lie. Especially not my grandmother. I guess I know them too well to know they couldn't deceive me like that by playing on some petty little ghost story lie.. or out of body experience. My grandmother told me she was a wreck when her son died (age 17 car accident running from cops) so much so that her body one day couldn't take the pain anymore and as she was lying on her bed sobbing her ''soul/spirit'' decided it didn't want to be in her body anymore.. so within seconds she was up in the corner of the ceiling in her room looking down on herself sobbing on the bed. Pretty cool right? And dad came home one night from drinking and passed out on his bed only to go through a big black tunnel and saw his brother (my uncle) working on his car. He apparently said to dad ''you're not suppose to be here''

ANOTHER experience of my grandmothers was seeing my uncle the same way dad did minus being drunk and some authority figures told her she wasn't suppose to be there so she snapped back awake again? HOW CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT?!

So yeah.. I actually believe I will have my turn one day considering both my dad and grandmother have experienced this stuff.

So.. how about you guys? Do you believe in life after death? Ghosts?

I'm not completely counting out the possibility that either exists, but I have not seen evidence for either, and will not hold out any faith that there will be. I've come to accept that this is probably the only life I will have, and the only life in which I will be able to experience consciousness, and am going to make the most of it.

I believe in that stuff. Just don't mention to a lot of people because of skeptics.

I don't believe in either, but I would like to. It sounds nice.

Yeah, I believe in the supernatural (ghosts, spirits, etc) since I've had my own experiences but in regards to believing in life after death....ehhh, I have a wait-and-see kind of approach with that. I'll think more on it when it's almost my time to kick the bucket.

Years ago I used to go to meeting of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) in London. The SPR was founded in the 1880s, I think, by a group of Cambridge academics. It has no 'beliefs' itself, but has spent over 100 years trying to subject such things to scientific investigation.

On the subject of ghosts, I went to a few very good SPR lectures. The fact seems to be that the vast majority of cases can be explained away, but there is a hard core that simply cannot.

So as a result of what I heard, my mind was changed from someone who didn't believe in ghosts to someone who has to acknowledge that something exists which seems very like the survival of human consciousness after death, which cannot be explained by current science.

Do I believe in ghosts? Short answer: Yes. I'm pretty open-minded about these things.

I believe it even more since my sister, dad and I experienced the same thing, at different times. We had a "man in the hallway" in our previous home. He didn't harm any of us, he simply walked towards the bathroom (We sometimes heard the door close too, but it was open), and then back a little later. And one afternoon, my dad was busy making lunch for himself when he heard someone say "howzit" and then he heard the door closing. He was home alone at the time... Or was he? My sister also saw this shadow-figure we call the man in the hallway and none of us knew of each other's experiences until one day the subject came up and we realized that all three of us saw (and heard) the same thing.

I once (almost) drove through a ghost dog. It was about 7pm, I was on my way to my friend's house. A car overtook me and didn't swerve for anything. But as the car got further away, I saw a dog standing in the middle of the road. I swerved. When I checked my rear-view mirror, there was nothing. I have to add, it was a pretty dark piece of street, no lights. And I later learned that there's a small burial ground next to that place where I saw the dog.

Another time I drove through a "man" He was kneeling in the road and my boyfriend at the time said, watch out for that man, but by then I was already almost on top of him. I just felt a slight chill go through me and that really creeped me out.

So yeah, I believe in ghosts

Do I believe in life after death? Yes I certainly do. I also believe my grandmother and grandfather on my mom's side are watching over us

Personally, I hope there isn't anything after life. I like to believe there is nothing. At least that way, I feel compelled to actually make something of my life, because it's all I've got.
And also, I'm a giant scaredy cat where ghosts are concerned.

I do, absolutely. I don't have any experiences with ghosts or spirits but after reading and researching, the concept is unavoidable.

Your consciousness is, far as any serious investigation can discern, an ongoing discourse among several billion neurons (I think the hundred billion estimate was disproved), not counting glial cells, exchanging chemical signals like beasts in some weird hive, with thousands of connections each with other neurons.

That said, this won't keep you from suffering occasional haunting. Don't worry about it. You can ease any anxiety associated with it, usually, with the same rituals we have been using for millennia. I favor appeals to Ningishzida, Lord of the Good Tree and dead god of the underworld.

If you want to go believing, intellectually, that they are actual human personalities, uh...okay...it is just that all of the junk making up your memories and unique personality, far as we can tell, turns into something like porridge when you die. Basically, after death, your brain comparatively has all the organization of an omelette.

You're more than welcome to message me, I love talking about these things. It fascinates me. I also enjoy watching programs of supernatural investigations, especially when they find some evidence of paranormal activities. Awesomeness!

No to both. Nice idea in theory but there is no reason why either should exist.

Maybe it's real maybe not. It's not provable so I'd argue for both sides.

When me and my sister were little, we slept on matresses in the living room for fun. One night, somewhere around midnight, we were watching TV and we heard a knock. It was a rather loud knock; I was sure we both heard it because she asked me: "Did you hear that?"

The thing that made it freaky was that the windows were wide open, so if anyone had passed by, we definitely would've seen whoever it was.

My parents were asleep, so they didn't hear it. We told them what happened, but they didn't believe us...

It's pretty lame when compared to other peoples' experiences, but it still freaks me out.

I've also occasionally felt something touch me when I go to bed. I quickly open my eyes when this happens, but I of course see nothing.

I definitely think there's life after death.

"Sides"? It's not a matter of sides. Either a belief is plausible, or it is not. It will not be made plausible by consensus. The thing is, not all of us have the same knowledge base and are all coming from different cultural backgrounds, so we have to form our conclusions based on those limitations. People who believe in these things firmly come from a way of thinking that is not like the disciplined processes demanded by us preachy humanists. They don't go by the bottom-up way of thinking that we do but tend toward a top-down model, starting with pleasing concepts as a basis and filling in the details around an effort to support and defend those concepts. The empiricist's insistence upon working in the other direction, filling in from the bottom, has never been popular.
