So, I recently came to realize when I'm depressed, I listen to Depressing Songs. They make me feel better, but at the same time, they make me feel worse. I was wondering if anyone else did this when they're sad, as listening to happy songs makes me feel worse -.-
I love listening to sad songs and imagining sad scenarios... It's that feeling of beautiful tragedy (ironic, as no tragedy is beautiful) that invigorates me with a new zeal for life. Lindsay Quit Lollygagging - Chiodos Such a great sad song.
yeah i listen to depressing songs a lot when im depressed myself. other songs just dont fit. some great songs to listen to: Mad World - Gary Jules (from Donnie Darko, totally awesome movie) Existentialism on Prom Night - Straylight Run (Long Island bands FTW! lol) The Scientist - Coldplay (a lot of their songs are pretty good) When I'm Gone - Eminem (Halie's Song too, a lot of his songs are really sad actually) Thugz Mansion - Tupac (acoustic version) November Rain - Guns N Roses (Patience too) Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd (SOO many pink floyd songs are sad. favorite band ever) i know tons of sad songs
Somtimes listening to depressing songs when I'm depressed makes me more depressed, but other times it makes me less depressed because the fact that the song is so depressing means that I'm not the only one going through crap. Sometimes if I'm depressed and I listen to 'happy' music, I get angry at the world becuase I just think that if I feel like crap, everyone should so I usually don't try listening to happy music.
Beautiful song. I don't necessarily listen to depressing music when I'm feeling down. Which is most of the time. I prefer angry music, but I do listen to depressing music occassionally!
I agree Mad World is depressing. It's Been Awhile-Stained <----Very very depressing song for me. Stop Crying your Heart Out <----Ever since I saw Butterfly Effect.
I really really really love Its Been Awhile by Staind. Awesome song but really sad too. EDIT: Just remembered what my saddest song is, Black by Pearl Jam. I've found I relate to it too much. and I cry every freakin time i hear it. it happens to be my favorite song ever too. So basiclaly im screwed :/
I'm with you on the Sarah MacLachlan, but for me it's Witness. :x Also, Birmingham by Amanda Marshall. Just the powerful message it sends, I guess.
I've been listening to Lithium by Evanescence a lot. Another song I like that is depressing is Irvine by Kelly Clarkson, I think it is such a beautiful song, but it's very sad.
EPIC WIN!!! That songs make me cry hysterically even if I'm in a good mood. Depressing songs happen to be my absolute favorite, and I find the most depressing songs come from musicals. My favorites: "No More" from 'Into the Woods' "If Only" from 'The Little Mermaid' (Broadway musical, not movie) "At The Ballet" from 'A Chorus Line' "What I Did For Love" from 'A Chorus Line' "I Don't Care Much" from 'Cabaret' "Legally Blonde" from 'Legally Blonde: The Musical' "I'm Not That Girl" from 'Wicked' "The I Love You Song" from 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' "Lament" from 'Into the Woods' "Send In The Clowns" from 'A Little Night Music' "Feed the Birds" from 'Mary Poppins' "Around the World" from 'Grey Gardens' (The most beautiful and depressing musical of all time. It's based off actual people...) "Another Winter in a Summer Town" from 'Grey Gardens' "What Would You Do?" from 'Cabaret' There's a lot more... Those're just my favorites
I always listen to sad music, but especially when in a sad music. Although, I only listen to Indie music... largely Canadian indie music so most people won't know my bands but: Crowd Surf off a Cliff - Emily Haines - This is her saddest song in my opinion but her whole cd is quite depressing. And happens to be one of my favourite cds. Go figure. Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap Corner of Your Heart - Ingrid Michaelson - Saddest. Song. Ever. It's so depressing and pathetic sounding. Just a quick little sampling of music.
Well 9 times out of 10 I usually feel better after listening to a depressing song my two favourite are Hallelujah- Jeff Buckley You Will Leave a Mark- A Silent Film (to me it is depressing because its about being guilty of growing up in the west when there are people dying in 3rd world nations)
i do that sometimes but generally i prefer cheery songs my fav depressing songs: Linkin park-In the end, Papercut, Crawling, Numb, Faint Christina Aguilera- walk away, hurt mariah carey- my all that's all i can think of as of now
