Apparently a recent UN survey established that the British youth were the most unhappy out of the leading 21 industrial nations in the world. So I was just wondering... if you are under twenty years old, would you classify yourself as happy or not and how this compares between the British and others.

have all this crap from school, occasional friend and family trouble, my heart is always aching (just my luck for liking straight girls haha)
    but yeah
    everyone has problems
    i like where i live
and things could be worse in my life
but im grateful that i got my job and for my family
after this week i will be happy
my mocks will be done with
including my german speaking test that i am going to fail, i find it so hard to revise german, therefore i dont know it

I suppose it depends on how you define "Happy". Maybe the idea of happy in the United Kingdom which we are shown is of a higher standard to the meaning of happy in other countries.
It is quite an ambiguous term so I'm not sure how accurate that study could be.

Anyway, I'm in the UK and I think I'm generally happy. Like Tashyy said, things could be a lot worse off, and everyone has problems.

I am not in the U.K. (I'm in the U.S). As I commonly put it, aside from working for one of the Detroit auto companies and having a job that's constantly in jeopardy, I'm happy. But, I have to be honest, having the constant issue of job security on my plate and Michigan's horrible economy not helping matters any, I don't have a real large margin buffering me from depressive episodes.

  6. Happy is a very subjective term. That's all I'm going to say.

I'm in the US, and I'm not sure how to describe my mood. I'm almost never upbeat or cheery, but I don't think I'm quite depressed yet. Just very introverted.

I don't live in the UK, I live in Canada; and I'm definately a happy person.
It took me a while to get here, but I'm happy.

I'm in the U.S., and as far as happiness goes, I can only speak for this moment. And right now, I feel like crap.

I live in the US and while there are some unhappy bumps, I am content. I mean why shouldn't I be. EC is giving me great friends(by great I mean REALLY great:looking at you Oswaldo,Kenny, and Igor) and a place to vent, mostly my father is taking me well, and I am doing well in school. Life is just getting better right now.

I'm in Australia, not the UK, and I fluctuate hugely, but in general I'd say more often happy than unhappy.

I would classify myself as generally unhappy.
    Outside the UK.

I'm generally alive. So I'm happy and unhappy at various times. I said "generally happy" because I've managed to not kill myself and I really like dogs and hanging out with friends, and I feel like I can probably make a living when I grow up, and even maybe meet a guy who likes me.

I used to be depressed a lot in high school: I used to look up personality disorders because I thought something was wrong with me (this was also before I admitted to myself that I was gay). My sister said, "You're not crazy, you're a teenager!" Hormones do make teens somewhat crazy and emotional. The way she said it, I agree with her. Now instead of convinced that I'm depressed, I just take a step back and try to put things in perspective more often. When I am feeling down, I just recognize that I'll feel better in at least a few days. Having a good approach toward life can be the difference between being generally happy or generally unhappy.
