So I had my ears pierced for about a year took them out for a few months and was wondering if I'd be able to put them back in myself or do I need to get them re pierced by someone again? Would the holes close up already? Is it really painful to re pierce them yourself?
Check your ears out first. If you can't really see the fistula (or hole), then they probably closed down; which is more than likely the case since the typical gauge for earrings are really small. That being the case, you'll need to get them re-pierced. However, don't pierce them yourself. You're just asking to get a wicked infection that way. If you want to re-pierce them, go see your local professional piercer and have them take care of that for you.
So went to try to see if I could put them in again and it went right in no problem. Seems the holes are still open so yay xD lol I can finally wear my earrings again xD. Now to find some pikachu or hellsing earrings....
After having all my piercings out for a while, I tried putting back in my most recent lobe stud. I didn't realise that the hole had closed up, and after getting a bit frustrated, I just shoved the thing through my lobe again It didn't really hurt (nor did my initial piercing), but it was a bloody mess, and quite hilarious at the time.
This sounds truly horrible, but in the early 80's and late 70's you got your ears pierced by your friends at sleepovers. An ice cube held behind and a darning needle. That's all you need. I had a co worker that did two cartiledge piercings that way. You just have to make sure the ear is clean and the needle also. My 1st holes in my ears were done at a slumber party.
I hope they didn't damage their cartilage. It's still not safe because needle isn't sterile, no matter how clean it looks.
you'll never know if the hole is still open until you try. everyone's ears operate differently. if you can't get it through, i'd pay the small price to have them re-pierced. infected ear piercings are horrible.
I'd vouch that in 1 year chances are to be open are slim though existing. Try new ones. Better safe than sorry, good luck x.
They actually said that the piercing healed up quickly and more cleanly than the ones they had done professionally. Probably because they were anal about cleaning the area. And the needle. They never got an infection, either of them. Not that I am suggesting it, at least not for cartilage.
