What are/what were some of your most random and irrational fears? Mine have to be:

Spiders, I'm horrified of spiders and most bugs

And probably harpsichords or harps because for some reason I find them slightly terrifying XD (don't judge)

And yeah, that's all I can think of. What about you guys?

I don't think I have any irrational fears now... but...

When I was a kid I was scared of the fireplace in my Mom's bedroom. I hated to walk past her bedroom at night. I had to every night after I had a bath. Somehow wrapping a towel around my head helped lol like completely. Just enough of an opening so I could see where I was going.

I was also terrified of ceiling fans for the longest time. Thought they could fall from the ceiling and cut me up.

For now, my greatest fear is the cockroaches.
One of them landed on my hand while I was urinating :icon_redf
I touched one of them while I was looking for the light switch.
I saw one of them munching on my toothbrush
I almost stepped on one of them in the dark
One of them flew at me.
One of them crawled up my arm while I was doing the dishes
    I hate cockroaches.

Lol Gandalf my sister feels your pain. She hates the flying ones. They have some weird attraction to her. It could be on the other side of the room. If it flies, it's coming for her. Happens every time. It's so strange haha and pretty freaking funny

And I can feel your sister's pain :frowning2:
I might or might have not scream when it flew at me.

I don't see phobias like spiders, heights, or dogs as abnormal. They aren't as weird as say colors, numbers or body parts (like chins or knees). The weirdest for me was having a weird period of being freaked out by certain numbers; for some reason, it was the number 8.

Slugs and snails. I don't like that they're wet and sticky and slimy, and their faces creep me out.

Cockroaches. I think they're attracted to me. Whenever I see one, it always runs towards me, not away from me.

Once my cousin put one on my head ._.

I would make a dirty joke about cockroaches, but I'm going to refrain XD

I still feel that way. I always picture it falling down on me and doing serious damage. Especially the ones with metal blades. Scary stuff

    ____________________________________________

    Other fears I have:

The fear of public humiliation - Something happening to me that would embarrass me in front of other people, like tripping on a flat surface and falling down, or something like that

The fear of using a public bathroom while there are other people in there - I have shy bladder syndrome too, which just exacerbates the problem. I've gotten better though. If I have to "go" bad enough, I don't really care about other people  Small victory (!)

The fear of not having enough money to pay for something I'm buying. Going through the store, picking up all the stuff I need, and then having to give it back and leave the store with nothing, all because I don't have enough money...

The fear of going somewhere by myself (Like the store, or to a party or restaurant). I'm able to do it sometimes though but I still avoid it as much as possible. My parents do not understand it.

I think most of my fears stem from my social anxiety :eusa_doh:

Automatonophobia: the fear of anything that falsely represents a sentient being, things like puppets, mannequins, wax statues, etc. I don't like any of that stuff, but for me, it's mostly garden gnomes and when people wear those full body costumes(like Micky Mouse at Disney)

I don't get it, I know it's just a statue and it's just someone in a suit, but I just can't. My body just has involuntary reaction where get this chills, I can't really explain it.

I have health anxiety. Actually, I don't like to call it anxiety because it rarely happens. But I've always been terrified of hospitals and doctors. I also refuse to listen to anything that's a symptom of a disease. Just because I'll find a way to freak myself out. So I just always stay clear of that stuff and I never have any problems.

Once in a great while, I'll get dizzy. Overslept, haven't eaten all day, it's that time of the month, etc. (whatever the reason may actually be) but I'll convince myself that there's something horribly wrong. I'll end up pretty freaked out for a solid 20 minutes, then I'll remind myself that I'm acting ridiculous and I'll get over it.

I'm scared of losing my sight, hearing, and ability to walk. I couldn't handle that stuff, but a ton of brave people do it every single day. I'm also scared of death.

My biggest fear is and always has been vomit. When someone vomits, or even just feels sick, I have a panic attack. Same thing when I vomit. It is such a terrible fear, and it's quite irrational. All I know is, it's going to be hard to be a mom...

This is me all over - or was, because I've gotten better with that. I remember one incident a few years ago where I was convinced that I had several cancers.. I spent most of my night worrying about it, and searching symptoms on Google. My chest is tight - lung cancer. My head hurts - brain tumour. Acid reflux - pancreatic cancer. You get the drift. I looked for constant reassurance that I wasn't going to die, and that it's all in my head.

Then I eventually got over it and thought 'Wow, I'm really fucking stupid'.

Oh I know! It's like how do you expect me to sleep when death is hanging from the ceiling in full motion like that!?

Do wish I could go back in time and explain to my child self that I could just turn the fan off. Think I still would have been scared of the "blades" but it would have made it a little less scary. Now I'm wondering where the hell my mom was during all this  she could have done that!!
