I like Nostaglia critic, and reviewers like him, because they like to make a bit of a show of their reviews, and those are the only reviews I actually watch.
I second that! Although I find his older ones to be more entertaining and funnier. His newer ones are okay. Too many skits and I find the humor in them is either hit or miss but in his older ones, he'd just get right to the point. I wish he'd go back to his old formula. Another one I find more enjoyable though, is JonTron. I believe he's more funnier and his jokes actually make me laugh and overall his reviews are pretty well done.
I'll trust a critic's opinion over the popular opinion any day, but the only reviews I watch are those that are informative while having entertainment value at the same time. For movies, Red Letter Media (Half in the Bag, Best of the Worst, Plinkett Reviews) are about the best around, brilliant bunch of people with professional level analysis and insight into film and general film-making. And funnier than hell if dry, sarcastic, dark humor is your thing For Video Games, Yahtzee (ZeroPunctuation) for modern stuff and James Rolfe (AVGN) for the classics. For Anime: Gigguk (Anime Zone) even though his humor can be somewhat tasteless, I think he makes good points and tend to agree with most of his opinions about anime
I'm someone who really enjoys critically viewing games/movies/novels, and discussing the artist's choices, and the implications of such. Some people say that going into these experiences looking for faults is stupid, however I think it's very important to analyze the media you expose yourself to. In general, I prefer written reviews, however Paw Duggan has captured my heart with his video reviews of various musicals.
I love entertaining critics. The Nostalgia Critic is excellent; I've seen so many of his videos... I do sometimes read more professional critical reviews of movies and music, but I don't let them shape my opinions too much. It is more to see how my opinions compare to theirs.
