Hey guys. I took 2 red onions that were about to rot in my fridge, and I planted them outside. They grew beautifully and I took the flower stalk off of one, and I'm tempted to eat it because it smells great. Is it safe to eat it?

This is what I'm talking about:

You can eat most things. The problem is what happens after.
