US residents: How far are you from the nearest state line?

    If you live in the US, how far is it to the nearest state line (or international one (i.e. Canada, Mexico))? If you don't live in the US, you can give date to the nearest province/state/country.

    I live about 150 miles from the Mexican border at Eagle Pass, TX and about 300 miles from the nearest state border with Louisiana at Orange, TX. I'm relatively lucky to relatively around the heart of Texas (Texas Triangle) so it's not too far from most things, relative to someone who lives in, say, El Paso, TX.

    I think I'm about 1.5-2 hours away from Mexico, and about 3-4 hours from Nevada.

    If I drive the speed limit, I'm about 20-25 minutes from the northern Tennessee border. If I don't drive the speed limit, I'm about 10 minutes away.

    I'm the UK. From where I am, you can walk into the next county in about 10 minutes. In the car, it's about 2 minutes.

    I live less than a quarter of a mile from the nearest state line. And, technically, only about 18 miles groom the nearest point of the international border, but I might be a little off on that.

    Pretty close. PA is maybe 25 miles; DC is about 50; VA maybe 60; WV also, about 60.

    And Delaware is pretty close, but I can't think of why anyone would go there.

    My house is about 40 miles from the Washington border, but most of my time is actually spent in Portland due to me going to school there and that is where I usually like to hang out on my days off. PDX is literally only about two exits away from the state line.

    I'm about a 45 minute drive to the Wisconsin border.

    I used a distance measurer for approximate distances. 32 miles to Wisconsin. 28 miles to Indiana.

    As you know, I'm not in the US, so apologies for intruding on the thread, but I couldn't help but point out that 150 miles east or west would put me in very deep water.. literally. I'd either be drowning in the North Sea or the Irish Sea. :eek: 150 miles south and I'd be past London and 150 miles north would have me close to the Scottish border.

    Much of the UK could be dropped inside a US state like Texas or California. I always think of the UK as a big, small country. 65 million people (aprox) and rising crammed into this island.

    Right now the border with Michigan is a good swim away, even though I can only walk about east 300ft from my apartment before I can go any further. Indiana is a half hour drive south depending on traffic.

    Previously, I have lived 3 miles from Kentucky in Ohio, 12 miles from Canada in michigan, and 2 miles from Virginia and Maryland in Washington D.C.
