I emailed back and forth for a while with Matt Kailey, which was probably a few months before he died. He used to run an advice column on his website and he was giving me resources, advice, etc. God, I miss the guy. I know he wasn't a big name in the community but he was a great guy and I was real sad to hear that he passed away. When I was a kid, I sent a yellow crayon note to President Bush, giving him condolences for 9/11. No replies though.
11 or 12 years ago I sent a letter to Mariah Carey, not directly though, there was this girl from a message board who was compiling stuff to make a fan book, but I don't know if she received it or read it, I hope not because it was cringeworthy, not creepy or anything just badly written
I wrote a letter to The Queen last year, in the summer holidays. I got back a short message from a lady in waiting and some leaflets about royal history. I wonder if The Queen actually read or not.
I hope this counts. When I was around the age of six, I had the biggest crush on Gisele, this lady who hosted some show or another on TVOkids. There was this one segment in the show where they read out fanmail from viewers. So I got some printer paper out and drew this whole elaborate picture, in the hopes of impressing the object of my affections. I didn't really understand what a PO box was or how you sent things to it at the time, so instead I just shoved the picture into the vhs slot of our TV, which was very similar to the bad boy pictured below. At this point in the story, my dad actually walked in, and just started laughing hysterically. Needless to say, I did not win Gisele's heart.
Ahaha! I guess we are from the same TVO kids era. If it makes you feel better I thought PO boxes were only in Toronto because I'd only seen people there say PO box...
