    I find it so funny that Americans call Independence Day 'the 4th of July'...... The British way of saying the date :roflmao:

    The ancestors I acknowledge fought with the British. We also fought with the Confederates, not because of slaves but because we hated the Yankee government with an intense passion and never really accepted its authenticity. We always hated the Yankee government. Ridiculous bunch of morons with the emotional development of pre-teens, the lot of them.

    Has anyone noticed that the U.K. is more of a democracy than the U.S. now? "No taxation without representation," they said. Well, we threw away the representation with both hands, and we're left with taxes paid to the corporate despots who rule us.

    Could we rethink the Treaty of Paris? We could just have Her Majesty send over a few detachments, and we could pretend that old piece of paper, the "Declaration of Independence," was just a joke, right? Please?

    Death to the Yankee government!

    Maybe if the US remained a British colony or Dominion for a little longer like Canada or Australia, things would be different. :wink: You jumped the gun too quickly with independence. You weren't ready. Father knows best.
