As the thread title asks, how well do you do under pressure?

Are you calm? Do you become more focused? Is it easier? Or, do you become a shaken, shattered mess?

Depends on who is pressuring me how important it is and my general state at that time.

I usually do better under pressure.

Especially when it comes to writing.

Most of the best writing pieces I have done have been done under pressure. Most of my A's in highschool for English were only achieved by procrastination.

Not sure if that's a good or bad thing really.

Depends on what kind of pressure we're talking about here. Pressure to finish a project in a short amount of time or pressure in my workplace - I'm great. Calm, quiet and very focused. No sense in running my mouth or doing anything to sidetrack me.

Pressure as in I'm playing Scattergories and I need to think of a town, household item, celebrity and TV show that starts with the letter T in less than 2 minutes? TERRIBLE. I can think of an answer to all of these right now, but place a time limit and paper/pen in front of me and it's like I have the vocabulary of a 3-year old.

Not so great. No matter what the situation is, when I'm being pressured I can't really think clearly.

I work very well under pressure, until it's too much pressure. But by then I'm usually already done with whatever needed to be finished.

I hate working under pressure but it seems to be the only way I can get things done.

It depends. If it's way too much, or I'm not that great at the task to begin with, I'm a wreck :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Well, in english class, I always wrote my best essays when I started the night before they were due. There's a certain sense of urgency which definitely helps me focus on the task at hand.

However, outside of academic pressure, I perform terribly.

I love pressure and stress, I can't work without it, it's almost like I get off on stress. Obviously there comes a point where enough is enough, but for the most part I enjoy it.

I Googled 'under pressure gif' and it did not disappoint :roflmao:

I usually feel okay when my skill level is high for the task.

I've kept my cool in pretty challenging situations. However, I've flipped out over little problems.

I've dropped a candle and set fire to the carpet? Meh.
I don't know the exact Metal sub-genre of this song? Oh noes!

If we're talking about deadlines, well, I try to get everything done ASAP, because otherwise I know I'll freak out. Sometimes I find it difficult to sleep, if there's something important left to do.

Younger me would freak out and fall to pieces.

Current me freaks out for a moment then deals with the situation at hand. Utimatley it depends on the situation but I feel I have increased my tolerance levels for pressure overall.

Depends on the situation and what/who is pressuring me.

If it's situational like having a short space of time to get things done, I kind of thrive on the adrenaline. It can give me an energy boost. Of course this isn't necessarily always a good thing considering the aftermath, because once that passes I'm often left feeling totally burnt-out. But in the moment it helps me achieve what I need to.

If it's a person that's pressuring me, forget it. Assuming it's something I want to/can see the necessity in doing I can pressure myself well enough if need be, but if someone takes it upon themselves to push me all that achieves is pissing me off. I find the idea that anyone doesn't think me capable enough that they needed to stick their oar in quite insulting on several levels, which serves as a distraction and slows me down. If they want to offer some practical assistance? Fine. But acting like their attitude alone is somehow the magic ingredient responsible for my accomplishments when they're not actually doing anything? Not so much. Healthy encouragement is a different thing entirely, but unfortunately many people don't seem to know the difference. What they deem to be 'helping' is all too often hindering to me. And trying to pressure me into something I've made clear I don't want anything to do with? That's going to earn a resolute Fuck Off essentially, even if I can't say that outright and have to find other ways around the issue.

Brilliant! And as this is a Kaiser thread let's throw in a good ol' pun: Pandamonium.

    Well seeing as you asked...

    That Under Pressure I like.

But this Under Pressure I struggle to cope with.
