I know that for atheists it's probably rather easy to respond to that, but for gay Christians, how do you respond to that?

Do you know any comebacks that are just as blunt and almost obnoxious just like that statement?

God's a flying spaghetti monster who only cares about whether you like meatballs or not.

    or

God also made Hitler, Stalin, Che Guevera....etc.

    If I were out:

God did make people, people cna be named Adam or Steve.
    or
Just because God did not make (insert random synthetic item), does not mean that is bad.

That it doesn't matter who he first created, but what happens later.

Also, that many major religions have no creation myth: Buddhism, Jainism, and to a large degree, Hinduism.

But once they say that Adam & Steve business, you know it's going to be awful hard to reason with 'em.

Well I don't believe in God, so I would most likely say "God isn't real". But for the gay Christians, you could maybe say:

    "Jesus said not to judge"
"God also made Homo sapiens, not Hetero sapiens"
"Well that's unoriginal" (I mean, how many times have you heard that?)
"Funny how Jesus condemned divorce and said nothing about homosexuality, yet you're not concerned for divorcees"

You could also quote the verse that says to take the plank out of your eye before you worry about the speck in your brother's eye.
I don't know, I'm probably no help here since I'm not Christian :/ I hope you liked some of the responses though.

He created Adam and Eve first to start off the reproduction process; but then created others later.

Jesus said not to judge as well.

It's difficult for me to say anything true about Christianity, because EC policy prevents it.

So instead of saying things that are true about Christianity, I will proceed generically in the following way:

"We're a nation of secular laws, not religious ones. Our choices are governed by policy frameworks that assess things we have access to, like whether or not people suffer harms. We've decided that we can evaluate things like the human dignity lost by exclusion of people from a core institution, and we've also decided we can't evaluate things like the condition of a human soul or a state of grace."

It's not pithy, to be sure, but surely the pithiest of remarks would run afoul of EC policy.

    "I thought God created everyone."

Or, you could ask how many generations, according to available information, after Adam and Eve did it take for the expanding population to not be considered a product of incest.

In the beginning, God made Adam and Eve to populate the earth. We now have overpopulation, so Adam and Steve relationships make sense.

As a Christian, I would not be thinking of a sarcastic response. Also, Scripture says "A soft answer turns away wrath."

I do challenge my fellow Christians to find out the original Hebrew and Greek meanings of what is now rendered "homosexual" in our English translations. Also, what was the context of the passage? Most pastors trained in these languages and with theological schooling know full well it's not black and white, but are afraid to upset the apple cart. So guess what? God is upsetting the apple cart for them right across North America and in many other countries. It is a joy to behold! Google Matthew Vine, Alan Chambers and Tony Campolo to see the shake-up that is happening in evangelical churches. Huge shifts
    are beginning.

You can always say "Well, God only made Adam and Eve, because someone had to give birth to all those gay children. Duh!". :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I'm sure that would piss one or two religious homophobes off. :icon_wink

Wow do people actually say that? I've been out for over twenty years and grew up in Utah of all places and I have never actually heard it in real life...
