Ehem... How to make this sound classy...

I am a homosexual female currently between relationships, and have turned to erotic fiction in order to pass the time before finding an appropriate mate. Sadly, I have found that the homosexual female genre of erotic fiction is sadly lacking in both quantity and quality. Being a homosexual female, I prefer erotic fiction that does not contain any male appendages, (Be them on males... or females) with a decent and preferably romantic plot. My favorite plot device is where the protagonist does not fully realize her sexual orientation, until she is shown by love interest. If anyone knows of such an erotic work of fiction, or really any erotic fiction suited for a homosexual female that is of high quality, I would appreciate a reference.

Don't really know. I know I have a hard time finding good lesbian erotica. I'm into rough and sexual stuff, but I hate stories written by straight men.

I don't really care who wrote it, as long as it's actually good haha. I'd rather have a good, hot story written by a straight man, than a poorly written scribble reminiscent of someone rubbing two barbie dolls together, written by a true lesbian! Good lesbian smut is hard to come by, and I'll take what I can get haha ^)^

Smashwords.com has lesbian erotica, and other LGBT stories and books. The website isn't exclusively LGBT though, that's not the focus of it, so you'll find other cool books too.

I didn't care at first, but there's reasons why I do. When straight men write they're thinking about what they find hot. They don't seem to have a clue about how female sexuality works. That makes it like mainstream girl-on-girl porn. I also feel like a man is watching everything. I hate that feeling. When girls write erotica they write about what they enjoy and find hot. Most stories that women write don't have that gross girl-on-girl vibe.

I used to critique erotica for a person I knew who was male who wrote a lot of lesbian erotica. I never found his work to be bad or poorly written in a purely grammatical fashion but it was loaded with a lot of lesbian cliches with predictable plots. It became tiresome after a while

There are some good female authors out there who write with a feminist perspective whether the material is romantic, BDSM, or in the vain of Middle Ages fantasy Games of Thrones prose.

A good place to start is with Google Reads and type in 'Lesbian erotica by female authors" and go from there.

Well, it's not about the gender of the author so much as what they are trying to write. It's true that most guys write something to "jerk off to," but I'd consider that something completely different than an erotic story. To me a good erotica is about the journey, not the destination. It tells a story, with human characters with human emotions, not just a bunch of dripping holes waiting to be pleased. If a straight male takes his writing seriously, there is no reason he couldn't write just as good of an erotic story as a lesbian female.

(And truth be told... I've read some of the fanfics written by lesbians... They can be just as bad as a man's)

I agree. It's not just limited to erotica but a good story has to have well-developed characters and a unique writing style by the author that gives the plot any meaning. Although not completely true or any kind of a bias on my part but I found women authors of erotica to be more romantically descriptive than their male counterparts.

    Write some.

    Beginning, middle, end.

Beginning: pre-conflict environment. There might be ambient conflict, but it's not the conflict that creates the premise for the story.

Middle: create rising action. Use the conflict that drives the story in order to generate excitement and interest.

End: falling action. Your characters address the conflict. Show how their actions effectively address the problem. Create your denouemont, and show how happy they are. Just like with music, you usually try to return to the key that you started with.

Writing is ridiculously easy. Most fiction follows a similar calculus. If there is a dearth of it, then you simply write it yourself.

And try subscribing to something like Curve Magazine. Their website has a "reviews" section. I'm sure you can find a little erotica in the mix.
