So, it might just be me but, I've noticed a increase of trans* people in my area since.

There is a Trans women working at my local Krispy Kremes and I saw a elderly Trans women at the movies tonight (I saw ant-man). It was so sweet. My dad said we can't go to Krispy kremes and I honestly won't stop going there, Even though I never get donuts anyway.

So, have you felt more comfortable as a Trans person since Caitlyn made it a bit more visible?

Maybe it's just me but, I hope she helped somehow and I'm right....

I rarely see trans people to begin with. I'm not a super observative person anyways. But I wouldn't be surprised if transgenders are feeling empowered by Caitlyn Jenner. I personally think it's very inspiring for someone so famous like her to try to make a difference.

Edit: wow, 200th post... can't believe I've been here this long!

Other than the people at my center, I haven't seen too many in this area.

I didn't notice much difference, but at the same time I don't get out much. Also, I doubt they showed it in the news here... Though, I admit I was touched by her speech.

Look, I don't care what a person has done or how you feel about them, but you can't go and misgender them like that. Especially on this forum, considering it's like one of the only safe spaces for trans people.

For what it's worth, the poster in question has self-disclosed that they are high as fuck. I'd take the posting with a grain of self-restraint. Then again... they say babies and drunkards never lie.

I've noticed more transwomen as well. Especially at gay pride. I also noticed more gay couples.

    No.

Other than about a week of people posting and discussing it, it has since died down. Folks, at least around here, are back to where they were before.

Pretty much, while I'm happy for her and the exposure is probably a good thing all I've noticed is more public hate.

However this is probably just due to the ratio of people, and if they are presenting themselves well, confident etc... the idea is to NOT notice them as any different.

I haven't really noticed much of a difference. Though people still continue to misgender her and disrespect her.

And there's the people who say she deserves to be misgendered because of some bad things she did. They could always disrespect her in a way that doesn't also disrespect every other trans person.

I personally haven't felt the urge to put myself out more. Mainly because I doubt the majority of people where I live even know who Caitlyn is. That being said if people are using her speech to be more comfortable in their own skin, then all the power to them.

Also people are going to be misgendering her for the rest of her life. It's unfortunate, though I think she acknowledged it in her speech. She doesn't really care, she just wants to be happy.

Lol, I just returned from Youtube.

Still 90% of comments being transphobic on trans videos. This is why I tend to dismiss comments on those, because it makes me pissed.

Personally, sure. I see a lot of trans pride flag filters on Facebook, major news outlets being slightly better about how they gender people (it should be noted that at least since 2007, AP Stylebook calls for publications and journalists to gender people right)

In my community, mixed bag. Haven't noticed any one like me around. Couple dumb comments here and there but that's about it.

I haven't noticed any difference, then again I'm from Sweden and Caitlyn hasn't been as much in the media here as I presume she has been in the US. However I have seen trans progress unrelated to this the last few years (maybe I've just been paying more attention). For example there are commercials on tv with trans people here in Sweden like it's no big deal.

No. I don't think Bruce Jenner was particularly well-known, and Caitlyn Jenner even less so.

Though to trans communities, she will be a huge inspiration, of course.

No, but it's really only because I live in a smallish town in Iowa, that state nobody lives in or knows about
