Hello all, Just interested what the general EC populus' opinion of the name "Gray" is for a guy. I recently "decided" to re-name myself that, and it's the current contender for my future official name. Together with my middle names, it would be: Gray Alexander Charles [last name] Please be honest. I'm impossible to offend, and honest critical opinions are more than welcome. I just want to know thoughts. Thanks for bearing with me as I explore different names for myself. Sorry if I'm being annoying (if so you can ignore all future "THIS IS MY NEW NAME WHAT DO YOU THINK" posts from me).
I actually really like it. There's not that many people with that name and it's quite unique. I'd give it tenouttaten. It's nice to have a variety of names out there because I feel like almost ever name is the same but Gray? Holy baloney! It's an awesome name and at least no one will mix up your name with another name that sounds almost identical to it. It's unique in it's own way just like you. You should go for it.
I think it's cool, especially in the combo you've put it in. It sounds quite unusual but also has a down-to-earth, classic sort of feel. I like how it's short and sweet: people wouldn't try to give you annoying nicknames. The only thing I can see is that to me, a British person, it looks like Grey spelt wrong. But in the USA, that wouldn't be a problem.
It shouldn't matter much what we think. It's your name. But if you want my two cents, it reminds me of 50 Shades of Gray. After that it reminds me of Jean Grey (even if it is spelled one letter differently), who was one of the most boring comic book characters. So, it isn't a name that exactly makes me think of swell things. You strike me as more of a 'Darren' or 'Eric'.
Minus the different spelling, it makes me think of England-- the color of crisp suits, stone walls, and cloudy weather. But regardless the name is easy on the ears and very uncommon without being bizarre. I like it.
One of the kids in Jurassic World is called Gray, which might spoil it for you. Mostly though, I think it's a pretty cool name.
I absolutely love the name Gray (maybe because he's a character from my fav anime but oh well) If you like it you should definetely go with it.
Just did a quick Google and one naming site states: "From an English surname meaning "grey", originally given to a person who had grey hair or clothing." So the above comment is very accurate! In my opinion it sounds dignified and refined but in a way that is not stuffy at all. Good choice!
I have friends who just named their son Greyson. They call him Grey. I think it's a very nice, strong name.
I quite adore the name name Grayson, but I find Gray tends to sound more angsty than sophisticated. It just reminds me of bad Twilight OC fics, and late nights spent in punk chatrooms. To me, the shortened name somewhat takes the class out its original form. But regardless of my thoughts on it, Gray sounds nice with your other names
If you like it, that's what matters. I generally am not the biggest fan of names that could be too easily interchangeable as both first and last names. I'm talking something like Taylor Morris ... or Morris Taylor, as a hypothetical example. So I don't care for the name Gray. But, again, YOU like it, so take it from there ...
