For anyone on here that is jewish... Happy Hanukkah! This time of year sucks for me the most. I normally always feel left out but now its even worse. Everyone singing Christmas songs and christmas theme tv shows. Im so sick of it.
Happy Hanukkah (even though im not jewish :x) And dont worry about the Christmas season, its 100% media. Fluff, Fake, False, Fruity, Flat, and F---ing stupid Its just a way to rope people into spending money, its never about the family or the time spent together. If you can find a way to move away from all the buy buy buy and have an honest, loving day with your family? Well i personally wouldent call that Christmas, atleast not in todays sense. So happy WHATEVER it is you celebrate, and a happy new years!
I'm sorry to hear it hun. I hope your Hanukkah is a little brighter. Try to distance yourself from the wonderful media a bit. It's the worst. I won't watch TV basically all December. Don't need the added stress. (*hug*)
Its the media and all my friends. Only 1 of my friends is Jewish and I am not that good of a friend with her. The other day in school there was an assembly and the chorus sang all christmas songs and everyone in school was wearing a santa hat. And people say Merry Christmas to me and I feel like screaming I AM JEWISH!!!! Im just spend gunna tomorrow hiding in my bedroom away from the world.
Eating chinese food and watching silly movies with the family is the best way to spend a Jewish Christmas.
Happy Hannukah! Incidentally, even though I'm not Jewish, I do know The Dreidel Song *ahem* I have a little dreidel, it's small and made of clay, And when it's dry and ready, with dreidel I shall play! Ohhh, dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, It's small and made of clay, Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, With Dreidal I shall play. My dreidel is so playful, It loves to dance and spin, I have a game of dreidel, Come play now, let's begin. Ohhhh, dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, It's small and made of clay, Dreidel, Dreidel, dreidel, WITH. DREIDEL. I. SHALL. PLAY! I've always wanted a dreidel
Haha, Holly, you're amazing. <3 Happy Hannukah sweetie, the media sucks for playing up the Christmas thing. It's just for making money, as others have said. I'm not Christian, and I celebrate Christmas...it really is a pointless holiday, unless you truly like it for the family aspect, which isn't a big part of my life anymore.. So don't worry about it
Haha happy late hannukah now i guess. Yeah, im in choir at my school. and well, lets just say its easy to feel left out being the only jewish person in the entire choir -.-
I'm Jewish as well...I have to say that yes it gets a little annoying... Let me share a story... On Christmas Day this year, my mom decided that the whole family should step in and volunteer as part of this program they have...the idea is Jewish people work on Christmas Day so people can celebrate the holiday with their family. Anyway, we were at a nursing home helping to celebrate the holiday with the residents there. One large portion of the entertainment was one of the local synagogue choirs. They sang one or two hannukah songs, but most of the time they were singing Christmas songs. The cantor was all into it and everything. I personally would not celebrate Christmas (no offense anyone) but I can still enjoy the occaisional Christmas special here and there... As far as at school, definitely glad we don't have Christmas assemblies or anything. If there are other Jewish kids in your school you could start a Jewish Club and have celebrations for holiday...or you could just bring Latkes and dreidels in and share them with your class and say..."This is how I celebrate my holiday" since you already know how everyone celebrates Christmas (more or less)
OMG, LATKES. If there's one thing that would make me want to be Jewish more than anything else, it's latkes. I used to know this Jewish girl (but she moved away a while ago) and her mom made the most AH-Mazing latkes. Little potato things never tasted so good! I'm so going to look up a latke recipe online now. Happy Hannukah, guys!
Thanks for making me feel not so alone. When people asked me what I got for christmas I said Santa forgot my house.
