Reason 0 - Kyoujin already said it for me. Whenever I think of marriage, to me, it sounds..not needed. Dating too. Well....anything with a relationship.
1) Tax breaks 2) Psychology 3) Sociology That's it. It's definitely not high on my priorities list, I have no romantic notions about marriage, and I don't actually care if I never get married. I'd like to meet someone awesome and be able to live with them, but that has nothing really to do with marriage either.
Marriage is another level of commitment and to some people it's the be all end all of relationships. I'm indifferent about marriage, so obviously I don't have reasons to marry someone. Seen too many people go through divorce or just get estranged from each other and drift apart on an emotional level, not necessarily ending in divorce. I think marriage gives the people involved some sense of security. At this stage, I don't see the point
Came here feeling exactly what VelvetBlade said. At this stage, I'm just not interested in marriage. I could give you 10 reasons for that. But for the sake of answering the thread's actual question: 1) Finances, taxes 2) So people will stop nagging about it 3) More security for family/couple (recognition, children, inheritance, things like that) 4) Tradition 5) Big party 6) ... Okay I give up. I can't find more than these 5 that would apply to me. Even the party thing was a bit of a stretch. That said, people get married for plenty of reasons. Love, religion, wanting to raise children...
