So I have a lot of homework to do by the end of the summer vacation (September 8) and I can't seem to get motivated. This work is for honors classes for sophomore year of high school. I don't want answers like "get off EC and do it" I need actual methods to get motivated... Now, when I say a lot, I mean three novels, two essays, a project, annotations in two of the novels, lengthy elaborations on a select group of annotations, journals, and a math packet. I've done a good chunk, but not enough.
First, Make a list of everything you have to do. Start with what's most important and at the bottom put the least important things. I've found that when you do this and start crossing things off the list it feels less and less like a mountain and you get a rush from it like you're really accomplishing a lot. Next, is to just do it. I don't mean that in the way you describe above, but I mean that once you get started it gets easier to keep the ball rolling, it's the part where you actually start which is so darn hard.
If I need to get myself motivated, I'll set myself goals and if I meet those goals I'll give myself some sort of small reward. I also look at the fun things that I get to do if I get my work done. Also, breaking down the amount of work that you need to get done makes it much less scary to look at, since you are not trying to get it all done in one sitting.
