Speedo-style. When I go swimming, I'm actually swimming (e.g. lap swimming for exercise), and a Speedo-style suit works better than trunks.
I voted Board shorts because that's what I currently have. But for me personally, I find board shorts and standard swim shorts to be equivalent, from a preference standpoint. If you're going to swim for longer distances, I might switch to standard swim shorts instead. What do I like to see guys in? Shorter trunks are my preference, but a good speedo doesn't hurt. :icon_wink To be honest, just take off the shirt and anything looks good!
In theory, I might go along with "no suit"; however, it's not an option I've ever had a chance to try. When I think of it, I think of swim suits actually being apparel that has zero practical function. (Apart, perhaps, from some exotic suits that might help one swim faster.) Swim suits exist only because of cultural mores that dictate that certain body parts are shameful, and must be covered.
Square-Leg Swim Trunks. Which for those who don't know are trunks that cut off higher up the thigh than traditional trunks. Almost like short shorts, but that makes me sound like ho', but that is probably accurate honestly...
The ones that come with the sexy men/women. But if you mean for ourselves, there's two answers. What I wear, and what I'd like to wear. For the first, I tend to wear shorts that come down to my knees. Depending on what the sun is doing, I may also wear a shirt. For the second, I'd love to wear some sort of bikini, but my body isn't situated properly for that. One day, though. One day...
Bikinis because I can't stand board shorts, and I need something covering my chest. I guess I can still post in this thread because I haven't started hormones yet.
I have a suit like this, and I like it in that it strikes a balance between the practicality of a Speedo-style, and the cultural preference for trunks. The suit works well enough that I'd be OK if it were my one and only swim suit.
Boardshorts or just regular swim shorts. I'm still a little modest about it since I haven't been working out in a while. Maybe once I get a little buff, I'll transition to swim trunks.
Exactly. All jokes aside, they are actually very confortable. Speedos have a tendecies to shift with certain movements and it can get uncomfortable.
I don't recall any problems with shifting. Although I suppose this is one of those "mileage varies" deals, depending on suit, person wearing it, circumstances when it is worn, possibly whether the pool gods were properly appeased that day, etc.
Square leg speedo trunks. A nice compromise between a speedo and a regular pair of swim shorts. It's functional, form-fitting, shows off a bit, but it's not as showy as a full thong--which is pretty rare to see in the US, despite the fact that half the girls on the beach are likely to be in bikinis--and that's commonly portrayed as the default in movies. Odd double standard.
As an international forum, I wanted to make sure our British friends have options as well as former British colonies and other nations. That's why I especially included speedos and trunks. I know they are very common overseas.
I have and will most frequently use the standard style US swim trunks. I do not like board shorts. I feel I would look stupid because I would be trying to look too much like a bro. I also have / had Speedo-type suits, though not that brand, and they worked fine. I've never used them for pool swimming but, rather, to go to the beach. Speedo charges more for the brand and other brands look as good or even better. Once, I went to the Tampa FL area on vacation and forgot to pack swimwear. I walked into a sporting goods store in a suburban mall in Clearwater and bought a Speedo equivalent with a blue pattern on it. It was rather inexpensive and I kept it for a few years. The look on the pretty girl's face who rang it up for me was priceless. When I got into the car after buying it, I had to laugh.
I will wear board shorts but I also wear a t-shirt or vest top due to the fact I hate being topless anywhere.
