Ok, so I need to come up with a topic for my art board next year. It has to be interesting and broad enough from me to be able to do approximately 36 painting's on and I need to be able to show my work evolve so it needs to be something with a lot of different ways to work with it. Any ideas would be appreciated, because I'm drawing a blank here
There is always the classic ideas, such as "Seasons". Alot you can do with that one, you can do the seasons as metaphors for periods of your life or journey? Other favorites of mine when i have to do collections are basing it on book series, mainly anything slightly out there like fantasy and such. The thing i like about books is its your own interpretation of them. That gives you alot of leg room to work with 36 is alot, so i dunno. It would have to be something quite broad me thinks... Most of my work is mosaics so doing 36 of them would be the death of me haha
Either death or birth The way different cultures interprets and/or celebrates/reminds it might be a good help.
How about a day? The way the atmosphere of a day changes with every half hour/hour. Could go from sunrise to sunset or something like that? Growth of a foetus? The stages of cancer and chemotherapy? Like the cells growing and then being killed by the radiation? Personally, I have found that controversial ideas always get the most marks.
How about the universe. There are lots of pictures of galaxies, star clusters, nebulae on the internet and I think an artist could really do something awesome with them.
someone said death or birth... this may sound completely out there but do both? like start with when a person is first concieved you could do one painting for each month the baby is in the mother and then showing it grow through out the year then have its death... idk just a thought
