Monitor your child's device activity - Microsoft Windows windows 10 has a thing where parents can receive in-depth activity reports on what any device listed as their children's have been doing. This could put some closeted kids at risk, I've been tweeting/messaging every lgbt twitter and lgbt news place I can find to try and get the word out.
This fucking disgusts me, it could put some ppl in very real danger, we all remember that viral video of a teenage boy telling his conservative parents he's gay and they respond by beating the crap out of him. Windows has their heads up their ass and I don't want that to happen to anyone else, so get the word out. and be careful, stay safe, o closeted ones.

Damn, that means I need to update my security again. My family (aunt, basically) has a...habit, should I say, of checking my stuff, including my private texts and asking me about them point blank. Thanks for the update. I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Mwahaha! I go on EC on my phone! I am still safe!
And my PC runs on Windows home premium. It's not new enough to get windows 10.

This is so awful, I'm glad I use Windows only to play Sims, for everything else - Linux. Although I really don't think my parents would do something like that, but it's a terrible thing, everyone is entitled to privacy. If you tell your child how to be safe online they'll be fine, and I don't see any other reason for spying on them like that.

While this may be an inconvenience to many LGBT peeps, overall it will do good and keep many kids from getting otherwise hurt. There is never a universal solution to anything.

Glad I'm nearly 20. I would have been mortified if my mother saw what I was looking at when I was 14.

It's an argument which works both ways.

Yes it's putting closeted people at risk, but not having such implementation puts children at risk online because parents don't know what their children could be up to and there is many risks involved with this.

It's a matter of which is the lesser of two evils.

Luckily we use Apple in my house.
I can understand why they did it. It would help prevent teenagers and children going on pornography sites and their parents would be able to make sure they weren't at risk from online predators. However I think they just didn't think about the consequences that would mean for LGBTQ youth.

It's anyone who has parents with Microsoft accounts who decide to link a child's Microsoft account to theirs. So if you use Windows 10 with just a local password instead of your Microsoft account details, you're safe.

    I'm guessing so.
My dad used to have a blocking system set up where he could see EVERY SINGLE WEBSITE I went on. Even through incog, because it logged IP addresses, and there's no way to mask the IP of a website unless you use a proxy or VPN if some sort. If Microsoft uses the same method, IP tracking, then nothing is safe.
Of course, I don't know firsthand, so take that info with a grain of salt.
(Took me about two days to bruteforce the password to my dad's blocking system and take control of the system so I could turn it off at my will XDDD)

I wonder if incognito mode, a vpn, and a different keyboard layout can change that.
