So this just appeared in the Guardian: ‘I’m a bisexual homoromantic’: why young Brits are rejecting old labels I think the fact that a major paper covered is great- those labels might be becoming a bit more mainstream, which can only be good for those who choose to use them.
I hope they do! Or at least, I hope that more and more people inform themselves about the different sexual orientations and gender identities. It would be awesome to live in a world where almost everyone understands and accepts my sexual orientation and the sexual orientation of others.
Oh joy. If there's actual study going on, that's one thing. Random coverage in a newspaper that simply perpetuates a viewpoint that has no basis may be news, but I don't think that's particularly helpful. On the other hand, many prior such trends in the psychology field have had their moment in the sun and then died a peaceful death, in part after getting this sort of visibility that exposed the problems, so in that way, perhaps it is a good thing.
