    I feel like I already know how the results will turn out...bbbbbuuuuutttttt I'm gonna ask anyways. I'm just curious as to who you think the real bigots are in regards to LGBT issues. I'm going to summarize the major view points of both sides of the arguments. Although I don't agree with the opposing viewpoints from some anti-LGBT people, I can understand they may think the way they do and I've learned to just accept their narrow-minded views and move on.

    Viewpoints that LGBT supporters usually share:
    1) Most people who are on our side usually believe that no one chooses to be gay/bi/trans. They tend to believe that we deserve equal rights because no one chooses their sexual orientation.
    2) Most usually view being gay as something innate and natural, much like the color of a person's skin, their eye color, or how tall they are.
    3) People who support marriage equality tend to do so because everyone has a right to marry the consensual person they love. They also believe in the separation of church and state.
    4) Some people who are religious and support LGBT people do so because they believe God made them the way they are and that their interruption of the bible doesn't view being gay as a sin and would follow Jesus's approach, which is to not judge others for who they are. (They take a more liberal approach).

    Viewpoints that LGBT opponents usually share:
    1) Most people who are not on our side usually believe that people choose to be gay/bi/trans. They tend to not believe we deserve equal rights.
    2) Most usually view being gay as a behavior and unnatural, rather than something that is innate. Some will view it as a temptation, perversion, or just simply lust. Some will even go to the extremes and compare homosexuality to pedophilia, bestiality, murder, and rape.
    3) People who oppose marriage equality tend to do so because of religious beliefs and believe God created one man and one woman to reproduce. Hence, the popular saying "God created Adam and Eve; not Adam and Steve".
    4) Most view homosexuality as a sin and believe they shouldn't support "sin". (They take a more conservative approach).

    People from the supporters side will usually say the opponents are bigots for not tolerating their views, just like people from the opponents side will usually say the supporters are bigots for not tolerating their views. So, who's real bigot here and why?

    I've also heard the "Lucy and Eve" saying before, I'm not religious but it's just something I thought I should add. Naturally, I would be inclined to say LGBT opponents are because clearly I'm biased on the subject. It's just when ever I hear these arguments being used I feel like slamming my head into a brick wall. :bang: It's really disheartening and cringe-worthy when people use these arguments to back up their homophobic views. :dry: I know not everyone is going to agree on the subject, but I just get absolutely sick of it. :tantrum:

    Society just sucks as a whole. People have different views and the sooner we can just accept that and move on, the sooner the world will be a better place.

    Bigoted ideas come from both sides. to say it doesn't is quite ignorant.

    "Bigot" is fast becoming a useless and pointless term.

    Anyone who feels strongly about an issue necessarily believes the other side to be wrong. The definition of "bigot", which is simply "someone who is intolerant" means that almost everyone is a bigot, because we all believe our views to be correct and don't want the opposing views to prevail or become the law.

    Yeah, I guess I'm a huge bigot because I believe in having the same rights as everyone else, because I don't think one religion's viewpoints should become the law of the land and dominate all people of various beliefs, and I don't believe people should have a right to discriminate. I'm a monster, alright.

    So I defer the question on the grounds that "bigot" is a useless term.

    Agreed. I am "intolerant" of racist views, especially those that call for violence against racial minorities. Under the incredibly broad definition of "bigot", that makes me a bigot.

    The problem here is: The LGBT opponents wants to influence the life of others (LGBT), and the contrary doesn't happen.

    For example, the LGBT supporters want to legalize equal marriage. This will allow us to marry the people we love, and that will give us more freedom in our personal life. However, that does not force straight people to marry same-sex people. It doesn't make difference for them.

    We don't want special rights. We only want to live our life in peace, with the same rights of straight people. We don't want to be considered better, we want to be considered equal.

    First, I just wanted to mention that the idea "tolerance of intolerance" is required in a democratic society is a shockingly stupid one.

    Tolerance it self means the intolerance of intolerance. We cannot protect a value without fighting for it, and it's incoherent to suggest that opponents of the value of tolerance should tolerated.

    We should not under any circumstances be dignifying the stupid tolerance pimps of social authoritarians.
