I very much hope that a Republican does not win the election,

for the specific reason that since Republicans currently dominate both the Senate and Congress, a Republican president would give way too much power to one party, regardless of your opinion on the viewpoints the party generally pushes (I would have the same opinion if the Democrats were in the same position)

You and many others as well, I am voting for Hillary; we need her and the Dems in the White House.

Same here. They would do as much as they could to advance a narrow agenda, trying to appease the religious right, rolling back LGBT rights as far as they could, handing out even more tax cuts to the already wealthy, and doing nothing for nature, the poor and the environment. I'd really hate to see it, as they seem to care about little else than money and religion. And the degree to which they are scapegoating Latinos as the cause of all evil is indeed disturbing; it's become a party full of such bitterness and xenophobia. The way they're just aping Donald Trump makes me wanna throw up.

Not all Republicans are necessarily like that, HP. ^ Trump is horrible towards immigrants, but both Hillary and Trump love big businesses and big banks. I sure hope that is not the matchup or we are doomed either way.

If we're voting for democrats, vote Sanders. Hillary is as scummy as they come and it will be more of the same government that's sucking the life out of the country.

So I don't come off as right-wing, all but one or two of the Reps are the same. I do have a low opinion of most politicians, especially the richest, most powerful, and most entrenched.

The fact that Trump is not only still in the race, but leading by double digits, and none of the other GOP canidates are gaining traction. You have Hilary Clinton not saying much, and you have Bernie Sanders, with growing support.

I don't know what to think of it. The 88 presidential election is the first one that I remember, so I've seen quite a few races. I've never seen one quite like this. My honest opinion. Everyone is mad hell, and decided they are not going to take it anymore. The problem is that everyone is mad about a different thing.

This must be what it felt like to live in the Weimar Republic, let just hope it doesn't end the same way.

*Sees Donald Trump, sitting on a stack of money bags*
"Hey, Mr. Trump, sir? I heard you were in favor of traditional marriage yet you were married and divorced 3 times, all because you cheated! How's that sanctity of marriage?"
"Little girl must be on her period!"
*Trump runs away with money bags in hand*
(Seriously though, can't believe such an idiot is leading polls. Hey, America, this is who's running your country, not a damn reality tv show!)

Most of the candidates are seemingly very against the LGBT community, which really isn't good for us or them. Their discrimination is only going to get them less votes in the end.

...but it could raise the amount of votes within the conservative groups since they like everything the "traditional" way.

True, but that's their main audience anyhow. Even without the sexism, the support for agriculture and federal rights already attracts those people.

What's worse, is that it is now the official stance of the RNC or The Republican National Committee, to enact federal laws that would make it OK for any business or individual to discriminate against same sex marriage and/or gay/bi people for whatever reason, allegedly based on religious freedoms and personal beliefs. This is endorsed by their chairman, Reince Priebus.

This is the official party position, and I don't see a single Republican candidate speaking up against it, or for equal protection in the workplace and housing: No, they want the right to discriminate.

This is the word from Republican HQ: LGBT 'rights' need to be rolled back.

I understand that some people are fiscally conservative, or don't like other liberal policies of the democrats, or don't like change, or don't like the taxation of the rich, or any of a dozen other sound reasons to not like the democrats.

But for anyone LGBT, I simply don't see how one could, in good conscience, vote for a party that has an an official policy an intent to strip rights from people simply on the basis of their sexual orientation. To me, that attitude, which goes against the concept of the most basic of human rights, ought to be first and foremost above anything else.

Dems may have their issues, but they have historically been good about trying to protect LGBT rights and advocate for them.
