Anyone know why, when, where, who started the expression coming out of the closet as meaning revealing one's self as homosexual? I understand that the expression "closet liberal" and others meant that someone was a secret liberal (or whatever), but it seems that "coming out" is now only used to reference homosexuality. When did that happen?
